Am I the only one tired of all the remake games?

Unfortunately most of todays gamers love remakes. They love re-buying games they purchased for their 360 and playing them again. They love repeating stuff. (see Destiny for an example) I crack up how so many gamers bought
into the "We can't do backwards compatibility!" garbage. Yeah, they can't do backwards compatibility, but if we add the word remastered, etc., we can resell it to you on your One. lol It's like the perfect scam imo. Oh... and I'm sick of the remakes. Add me
to the very short list of gamers who are apparently.

 

You mean they didn't spend years remastering Tomb Raider, Halo, G.T.A.5, and (Insert game I may have missed.)? Say it isn't so! Lol. ;-)

To be truthful though, the X1 version of Tomb Raider is much better than the 360 version...though I doubt I would have re-bought (Or played it again.) if given the option of popping a 360 disc into the "One".

@Dark I said there are good games this gen, just not enough of them. A lot of games on the X1 and PS4 have been remakes. I didn't buy the X1 and PS4 to play the same games that I played on the 360 and PS3, I sold those consoles for a reason. So I can play
NEW nexgen games!

P.S. I honestly think were seeing so many remakes is because developers are out of new ideas/money and they port the games over to the X1 and PS4 to make a quick buck. Plus it fills the gap of lack of new releases.

 

I don't mind at all, if it's a game I've really enjoyed in the past I have no problem buying it again. New games doesn't necessarily mean enjoyable.

 

They're not out of ideas, they just haven't had enough time to make new games yet. They are pumping out the games at a good rate. Last thing we want is the market flooded with loads of games that are crap because devs have been rushing them out.

The remakes don't need a full team of devs to produce them, a small group can do a few remakes inbetween making new game's. I like the fact I have plenty to play on my X1.

 

Because many peps still play games on Xbox 360 that aren't yet on Xbox 1, like a World of Keflings, COD BO2, Happy Wars, etc. Another way to bring more peps to Xbox 1 is to bring over the games they like which Xbox 360 has. And Xbox 1 isn't backwards compatible
unless Microsoft releases a Dashboard Update. Game devs make remakes, because they know peps still play it, and know at some point in the future no one knows exactly when, when Microsoft discontinues Xbox Live support for Xbox 360. Xbox 360 has a massive game
library and game devs are free to remake games for Xbox 1 as they, not you, see fit.

 

Soulwatcher, I don't understand how many 'new' good games you were expecting, though. Xbox One has had more than the average number of good/non-remake games in it's first year compared to most other systems, so how exactly are you defining 'not enough'?

Yes, the remakes ARE to make a quick buck for a developer who doesn't have a full-blown new title ready to launch, but my point is, the remakes aren't affecting those full-blown new titles. Devs are still working on those, too. They just aren't ready yet.
So what difference does it make if they come out with a re-release in the meantime?

Goth Vampirella, I'm not understanding your point about 'buying' the no backwards compatibility thing. There is nothing to buy. It's not something that can just be switched on or off in the software. The hardware is different. It'd be easier for Xbox One
to do it than PS4 (since PS4's hardware is EXTREMELY different than PS3), but it'd still take a lot more than a simple dashboard update. Including the hardware inside the box to make the One easily backwards compatible would have upped the cost of the thing,
so frankly I'm glad they just made the system they wanted instead.

 

Add me to the list - tired of the remakes. Some might say "if you don't like them then don't get them" - but all these remakes are affecting the number of dev resources available for the new games.

(NB: I did buy Halo MCC but that's because it was crazy good value and I didn't finish all the old Halos and I no longer have a 360 to finish them on).

 

of all the remasters we have yet to see a Mass Effect trilogy for X1 and PS4. so sad

 

I for one can do without them, but it dont bother me that they are there I just dont buy them. If people want to rebuy game's they already paid for and played who am I to say they cant.

 

I like remakes. I also like new IP's. I probably support new IP's better than most in this forum. The great thing is we can have both. A remake takes no resources from devs working on new games. Don't want them, don't buy them. I just think of them
as another excuse to replay a game I really enjoyed.

 

some are ok, some not. i don't necessarily mind it.

 

For me there not remakes as I never played them first time round only one I will have played before is first borderlands and resident evil but love both games

 

I think people kidding themselves if they think these remakes aren't having an effect of new games - seriously, all those devs involved in the remakes....wouldn't they be a useful resource of new games (to either bring forward the release date or to add
more features or to fix all the bugs new games are being delivered with at the moment).

But of course it could be said that without the money from the remakes maybe studios wouldn't have the financial resources for keeping those developers on their books.

Either way - it's not a clear cut "I don't buy them therefore I'm not affected".

 

I'm in favour of GOW and Mass Effect remakes for the One all day long, release those and the 360's a goner!
