Am I right to have bought an Xbox One X especially for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020?

I understand that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 will be released on PC first hopefully the first half of this year, followed by the Xbox One release. Unfortunately for me my PC is about 5 years old and I know I won't be able to upgrade it any time soon.
Basically though it has an Intel Core i7 4790k CPU, 16 gigs of RAM, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 980ti, a 1TB SSD (plus a 1TB HDD and a 4TB HDD) and my internet connection is 400Mb download and 40Mb upload. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if my PC spec will be
adequate to run the sim at all.

Quite recently in anticipation of MSFS 2020 I bought an Xbox One X which was £360 knowing that I wouldn't be able to save up enough money for a new PC as it'd probably cost about 5 times that amount. So I'm also wondering how much better is my Xbox at running
games (or in this case a simulator) in 4K than my current PC is. I'm guessing that the later Xbox release is going to have to be a downgraded version of the original PC release at least until the Xbox Two appears in the second half of this year hopefully.

A lot of people obviously know a great deal more about this than I do so if any of you could enlighten me about it that'd be much appreciated.

I would suspect your PC specs would be more than adequate to get a great performance out of MFS2020, probably running on High settings too.

I am very curious how a product like MSF2020 will run on a console though, specifically input methods.

I guess the benefit of either having Ultimate Game Pass or purchasing a digital copy (presuming its Xbox Play Anywhere) is that you'll be able to try on both you Xbox One X and your PC!

Well nothing is certain until it happens so there is always a chance we won't get it on console. They did of course say it was for both when the game was announced so I think the chance is very likely.

Exactly. After all, no one is playing Scalebound or using the Super Duper Graphics Pack for Minecraft, and that last one was a focal point in advertising since E3 2017.

Thanks again guys. So as to compare the performance of my PC versus my Xbox One X I've used Forza Horizon 4 as an example. I'm assuming that the Xbox One X runs it at 60 fps on ultra in 4K so I tried ultra in 4K on my PC and I get an average of
52 fps according to the FH4 benchmark test. Actually playing it on my PC the slightly slower framerate is not very noticable at all which I'm pleased about. The Xbox One X though is obviously capable of running it at 60 fps at the very least at all times so
it's proved to be more powerful than my PC.

The One X actually runs FH4 at 30fps at 4K. It can only manage 60 fps at 1080p and to do this some of the graphics settings are scaled down.

The GTX 980ti was a high end 1440P card at best, although it will struggle in current games at this res @ 60fps.

Hardware wise your CPU beats the Xbox One X as the One X still uses the same cpu spec as the Xbox One/S, just clocked higher. Only the GPU is more advanced than your 980Ti

Note that the Xbox consoles don't have a CPU and GPU, they're combined into an APU.

The graphics settings on FH4 are defaulted at 'Dynamic' which means it will change depending on demands, 4K Ultra won't be Ultra.
