Am i alone??

I was skeptical when I bought my Xbox One, but since Kinect was mandatory at the time I now have it... and use it every single day. Voice navigation became so much simpler when MS started highlighting all your choices in green text, too. No need to guess
at the majority of navigation options.

The navigation by motion varies from game to game; I'm sure more standards for that will evolve, as devs get more experience with it.

Looking back, if the Kinect-less model had been available at the time, I probably would have bought that. Who doesn't like saving a hundred bux, right? But then I wouldn't have discovered all the awesome Kinect games - so I guess it's worked out.

 

I love the kinect! I did not own the 360 version so it was a new experience for me on the Xbox One. The fact that the kinect came with Xbox One was one of the reasons I opted for it over the PS4. It really appealed to my wow factor for what it can do, (Voice
commands, Skype, Code reading, etc...), and I think it adds a great element to next gen gaming. I can't imagine using the Xbox without it, as I use it all of the time.

 

I use it a lot, but only for the voice commands. They work for me about 99% of the time too, which is fine. The only game I use it for is Forza Horizon 2, although again that's just for voice commands.

I've got my Xbox One set up in a bedroom now, so I don't really have the room to use it for gesture stuff, although there's not really any games that interest me anyway. I can imagine that Dance Central is great if you're into that sort of thing though.
I liked that Fantasia game, but the novelty of it wore off pretty quickly (I only played the demo). It can clearly work well for gestures in some games, but it has to be used for the right sorts of experiences and most of those aren't what I'm looking for.

I was very surprised when it turned out to be mandatory (initially). Before we knew that, I thought that they would have to be crazy to do it. I thought they would put a mic on the front of the console or on the controller so that you can still do all of
the voice command stuff, then sell the Kinect as an optional extra.

 

Sorry but I'm with Digital on this. I don't like the thing at all. I was indifferent to it at first and was happy to try it out, I just didn't enjoy using it.

 

I like it untill i ask to snap party and it snaps 4OD. Then i hate it for a total of 5 mins

 

Yeah I like it, always works for me. Until somebody comes round who's never seen or used it and I try to show them, it then just sits there not doing anything while I scream " XBOX GO TO, XBOX SNAP, XBOX I HATE YOU " !!.

 

It works for me most of the time, its only 'Xbox Record That' which messes up sometimes but other then that I love the voice control.

 

Add me to the love it crowd both for games and navigation, it's what makes the One for me.

 

love it here too, wouldnt want the gimped 'without kinect' console, but thats just my opinion on it.

 

Did you use it to abuse me on Saturday Ibakez. I have visions of you doing squats!

 

The thing is practice and patience makes the kinect work better. You have to learn the commands and believe me they are commands. Don't ask nicely "xbox on" give it the the command "XBOX ON" not yelling either just commanding.

I feel kind of like a jerk when I tell my Xbox "Stop Listening". My Xbox looks at me like, dude don't be a jerk.

 

^^ I always say... "Stop listening.... please" And then when it stops, I always say "Thank you."

 

I love it for some things. My Xbox has been in for repair for a while now but I still catch myself saying "xbox on" when I walk down the basement.

 

I love having the ability to control my xbox with my voice, but I don't need a camera or motion controls.

 

Would be "hard" for me to not have it on Xbox one and maybe on future console....

Like it and found it usefull and fast.
