    Alternating red and green lights on power ring


    2 years ago i bought a refurbished elite console from GameStop. I sent my console in for repair on a disk drive error (would not read disks). I received my console back and was told it was not able to be repaired due to "internal tampering." When I attempted
    to power it on the ring lights flash quadrants 1 and 2 red, 3 and 4 green, then 1 and 2 green, 3 and 4 red. There is no display on the screen. Please HELP!

    Hi there, AlphaGhost91. Let's take a step back and look at your first post. You mentioned you were seeing three flashing red rights, correct? If the light on your power supply unit is green and your console is showing three red lights, then your console
    will need to be repaired. Have you seen the three red rings since the initial power surge?

    The console was probably opened by the first owner.

    This is called tampering.

    Microsoft will not repair any console that was 2opened by someone else.

    Sorry but next time you should purchase a new console.

    I understand why they did not fix it. What I want to know is how to fix the problem of it not working at all after getting it back.

    Yellow lights of death?

    It will be green when the console is powered. Yellow is standby. Red is fault. Yellow with console powered usually will have the console display red error lights. Green is good to have, but still can have red error lights displayed if there is such an error.
    Now red, red usually means a short or electrical problem like over or under voltage. Red on an Xbox whether the ring of light or psu is bad news.

    Check ring of lights around your power button which can indicate kind of problem.

    Fix an xbox 360 not turning on

    Green all the way around, normal

    1 red top left corner, hardware failure

    2 reds top left/right, overheating

    3 reds top left/right-bottom left, ring of death

    Entire circle red, unsupported cable

    Next light on power supply: None-no power. Green-on. Orange-power off. Red-power supply failure.

    Link describes 3rd step if 1st two no issues.

    Hope this quick fix helps keep in mind is a quick and best to consider service soon.
