Alt MAC address limitations?

Discus and support Alt MAC address limitations? in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; I am forced to use an alt MAC address when using a hotel WiFi, it allows me access to the internet.     Alt MAC address limitations?


    I am forced to use an alt MAC address when using a hotel WiFi, it allows me access to the internet. HOWEVER, i can not engage in any online gameing sessions, any attempts in doing so produces a messgae " You need an Xbox Live account to use this function".
    I have an xbox live account and I am currently signed in. I have no issues with watching Youtube, Netflix or downloading updates and games. I have tried bridging a connection through my laptop, it does allow me full acess, however the connection is grossly
    unstable and drops constantly. Is this purposefully intended, or some software glitch? Is there any recommended apps or downloads to correct this unusual behavior of the alt MAC address function?

    When you say "both consoles", is on of these a Sony Playstation?

    yes.

    however, to check your suggestion i discovered the network was up without me doing anything but i was messing around and lost it again. i'll wait a week then talk to my wifi guy again.

    Have you tried using the wifi with your consoles default MAC Address. As in set your computers MAC to match your consoles default> Sign in to wifi> change it back> Turn on your console>

    I don't think it would make a difference but it would prove the problem isn't your MAC address. Maybe the hotel has a super duper ultra strict NAT type.

    i did have 2 enter a passcode for the wifi service but what they gave me didn't work. so my provider disabled the passcode needed (not totally sure what he did) and said to give my MAC addr, i did for both consoles but a no go with the 360. my other console
    does connect fine.

    Greetings McCail!

    There is no "alternate" MAC address for your xbox's internal or external network adapter. You could however alter the original MAC address for the external or internal network adapter by its last three characters, but I don't see how this would solve your
    problem. Instead, can you please tell us if you have to enter a username and password using a software or a web browser on your computer to be able to access the Internet? If so, please read:
