    Alt MAC address does not allow for online gameplay functionality.


    Being a long haul driver, I'm on the road constantly, and I brought my xbox one with me. Due to the pay wall of Microsoft to access the internet explorer has made getting online near impossible.

    The only fix ive found worked as it worked for the xbox360 was to use alt mac address. And since upgrading to the One the online gameplay funictionally is not working.

    Im able to connect to xbox live and talk to friends and when I check the wireless connection it says open or moderaiate and then ill check online play test and it says everything is good. but when I boot up say Battlefield 4, Destiny, or heck even Minecraft
    it wont allow me to connect to other people/play on the online severs.

    Any Fixes yet? this is really irritating. but if no fix is in the works guess ill have to use the 360 until then.

    the answer is simple Microsoft does not want you to use the alt mac address been an issue since Feb of 2014 since that fated update came out it broke the online gaming aspect of the alt mac address. the reuse time and time again to fix this bug and lock
    all threads that bring up this huge problem.

    Hi ,

    Thanks for reaching out to the forums. To add what wish mentioned, try clearing the alt mac address. Go to settings>general>network settings>adv settings>alt mac address and clear.

    I actually tried that. When I press CLEAR the console just sits and does nothing. I have since restarted the console and as soon as it comes online it says i am not online.

    however, to check your suggestion i discovered the network was up without me doing anything but i was messing around and lost it again. i'll wait a week then talk to my wifi guy again.

    i did have 2 enter a passcode for the wifi service but what they gave me didn't work. so my provider disabled the passcode needed (not totally sure what he did) and said to give my MAC addr, i did for both consoles but a no go with the 360. my other console
    does connect fine.
