Already installed game

Hello, recently i've just changed my main hdd to ssd. My Windows is running on ssd and i connected the old hdd with all files. I already had installed for example Sea of Thieves and i don't wanna install it again. Is there a way to avoid installation ?

should have used acronis or another application to clone the drive to the ssd, then you would not have to setup anything or re install anything.

I'm afraid not. The files need to be redownloaded, as the system needs to make a record of the installation. Installing a new drive would have meant re-installing the OS, which clears this information.

But... You are able to re-install it so the files are put on the old drive, if your SSD is low on space. Go to settings, system, storage and then click on 'Change where new content is saved'. Then change the 'New apps will save to' option the external drive.

Xbox App can't detect games installed previously on the drive.

To delete the folder, you must take its ownership. Right click the folder > Properties > Security tab > Advanced > on "Owner", select Change > enter your user name > OK > OK.

Game saves are separate from game installs/downloads. Also, the install file is different than the download file. So you would not be able to use the install without the disc.
