Almost unusable after NXOE

Hey everyone,

So I'm posting this in hopes that someone at Xbox can help.

I just spoke to a rather unhelpful Xbox rep on the phone, and he told me to post here.

My Xbox one had been practically unusable for over a week sense the NXOE installed .. Basically the only useable apps on the whole device are Netflix & YouTube.. Every game on the console either refuses to load (in the case of fallout 4, refuses to install)
or comes up with "installation stopped" after trying to update, all of which continuously loop, unless you pause them. The tech support fellow advised me against factory resetting the console as it likely wont fix the issue, or could completely brick it. The
OS itself also appears to be slower or at least no faster then it was under the old xbox one experience.

Kinda disappointed my $549 console (I live in Australia) is now basically a glorified media centre.

What happened to full kinect calibration/setup

Hi NewBlackSmurf,

What do you mean by " NXOE skeletal tracking was removed so there is no need to setup those items as its no longer supported"?

What's the use of the kinect sensor now??

And what about people who were enjoying games like Shape Up and now it is all messed up and almost unusable?

Is it possible to roll back to the previous version to keep using the kinect as it was before?

Hey mate, I'd hate to insult you and suggest doing a hard reset. Hold the power button until the unit turns off, give it a sec and try that? The new dash is super fast compared to the old OS. Party system and friends list is quick af.

 

hiigherPrimate's suggestion will usually fix the issues you're having. You can also do that from the Guide, if you can get it to load, by going down to the settings tab and choosing Restart console. If that doesn't help, go to Turn off console in the Settings
tab (or hold the power button if you can't do that), then unplug the power cord from the back.

If none of those work, the factory reset will possibly help, but you will have to reinstall your games and apps that are on your internal hard drive after. If you have an external drive, you can move everything to it, and be ready to go after the factory
reset. It's possible that it may not work, but if you can't get the other 2 methods to help, that's what I would personally try next.

 

Hey guys, thanks for the reply, Sorry should have specified (but I was irate) in my original post. I've hard reset the console several times, once even leaving it disconnected from all cables/power brick overnight. The problem persisted, slow loading, slow
signing in, and the game installs/updates failed to finish.

I have sense spoken to more people and have preformed a factory reset, which after taking a good 25 mins, all I got to successfully install was RARE replay, Netflix and youtube. Halo MCC, Elder Scrolls Online and Mad max still fail in install. Halo got the
closest at 97% then kept looping the installation stopped every 60 seconds again. All of these were physical media. I'm scared to try downloading any of my digital games, as I don't have a very large download quota here in Australia, and don't feel like leaving
myself short for 3 weeks for nothing.

I don't know if this still works, but when the console first came out, you could fix installing from disc errors by going offline, either by disconnecting the cord, or through Network Settings. When you install from disc, I believe it still downloads information,
so going offline will force it to install from disc only

 

I've tried that, that's how I got Rare Replay to install, but anything that needs an update (ESO/Halo) to play brings up that error.

 

It's just really irritating as all I want to do is to play Fallout 4, but its not advised to play without the patch, and with the patch .. Put a dampener on the last 2 weeks lol

 

I've also seen some people who are able to fix that by changing their DNS. Settings, Network, Advanced settings, change DNS from automatic to 8.8.8.8 for primary, and 8.8.4.4 for secondary. That's the only other idea I have for you.

 

Tried this too, still erroring .. Hopefully it's fixed through a patch soon
