    Allow M but not MA15+ content for child account


    I set up my son's account restrictions the other day and couldn't figure out how to prevent access to MA15+ content while allowing M content. He is not yet 15 but we're happy for him to play M rated games with our guidance, but not MA15+ content.

    My Xbox One settings (as per
    http://support.xbox.com/en-AU/my-account/security/xbox-one-manage-privacy-and-online-safety     ) allowed me to customize "Access to content" "Appropriate up to age X" - if I entered anything less than 15, it didn't allow M rated content, but once I set his
    age as 15 it then enabled both M and MA15+. So how can I enable M without MA15+?

    "Teen" to "Adult" privacy settings

    There are no settings that will allow a child account to download free M rated or unrated content. Those settings will allow you to download paid content, but free demos or betas are considered advertising and cannot be downloaded on a child account.

    I think the wrong age may be associated with my account when I signed up.

    Honestly, except for demos there's not much you'd miss on a child account vs. an adult one anyway. Settings can be changed to allow a child account to download M rated content.

    you should be allowed to download M rated games and add on content as long as the parental controls allow it, but what you cannot download on a child account is demos for M rated or RP (ratings pending) games or videos.

    Child accounts cannot download M or RP content that is free as that is considered advertising. However, child accounts CAN purchase M and RP content if your parental settings allow it. The parental account attached to your child account can manage these

    yeah you can download games on a child account but not demos or videos for any M or RP (ratings pending) content regardless of any parental settings/allowances.
