Allow HDR Grayed Out -- Help Please!!

So I have a 2016 LG49 UF6490 TV. It allows HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color on port one. I recently got the Xbox One X and have been trying to get the HDR setting to be selectable. The Xbox support pages state that Ultra HD Deep Color should allow the HDR setting
to be selectable but it is not working. I am using the HDMI cable that came with the One X. I have my DirecTV cable HDMI going into my Xbox. I am in picture mode settings - Game. I do not know what else I can do. Anyone out there who can help?? Thanks!!

    :)

Allow HDR Grayed Out -- Help Please!!

I had a similar problem with my samsung 55mu8009. Turns out I had messed around with the tv settings too much (like turning HDR+ on and the likes believing the xbox one x would see it for what it was... it did not and told me my tv was not HDR capable).
After setting the screen settings back to "standard / dynamic" (from hdr+) the xbox suddenly recogniced my 4K HDR TV for what it was. I had also dabbled with the sound settings which prevented me from using my 7.1. headset in anything but stereo on the xbox
one x. But adapting the same logic to this problem the solution was basically the same. Now the Xbox identifies everything properly. I know LG and Samsung probably use entirely different menus but maybe this may still be helpful to you.

Usually this setting is off by default on most TV's. To allow the Xbox to Utilise HDR it has to be enabled first on the TV. Then, once it is enabled, you can set HDR on for your Xbox One X. Your TV manual will explain how. If you can't find it, you can
download a copy from LG LG 49UF6490 Support: Manuals, Warranty & More | LG U.S.A

    Hope that helps.

is there an option on the tv inputs them selves to allow hdmi 2.0. If so make sure that is turned on in your tv. I have the TCL tv and it was on auto but 2.0 got everything working for me. And also make sure HDR is turned in the tv settings side of things.
So check tv side of things.. Sorry if that doesn't help..

Can't enable HDR. Need some help

Hi, Jenny! Thank you for reaching out.

I'm sorry you are experiencing issues with enabling HDR on your console.

Could you check if your TV/monitor supports both 4K and HDR? You can see this at Settings > General > TV & display options > 4K TV details.

If your TV supports both of these features, go back to the previous screen and select "Video modes". Please try checking "Allow 4K" and see if that allows you to enable HDR.

In addition to this, please check your TV/monitor settings to see if HDR features are enabled on it.

    ----

Please let me know if this works, I'll be looking forward to your reply.

    Best regards,

    - AJ
