Allow a child to download game on his profile???

We bought our son a $25 gift card for xbox content to download a game to his console. He has a child profile set up with xbox. I created an account of my own to alter his settings to allow him to buy games and download. however when logged into his account
and trying to download an E-Rated game it says this content is not available to teen or child profiles. any thoughts?

"Teen" to "Adult" privacy settings

There are no settings that will allow a child account to download free M rated or unrated content. Those settings will allow you to download paid content, but free demos or betas are considered advertising and cannot be downloaded on a child account.

crossplay on child account

Microsoft should have been more clear on the ristrictions of creating a Child account, and especially on the things you cannot change later on. E.g. My son can't use the FIFA app on his iPad, because he has a Xbox child account... Confirmed by EA customer
support that this is due to his child account and that cannot be changed. Same with Mixer; he can't Stream due to his child account. No setting anywhere to allow this. It really sucks balls that I can't control what I want to allow my kid to do online! I can
allow him to play a 18+ game offline, but he can't cross-play freaking Fortnite...

I am going to contact MS support and sum up all the issues we are having with his child account. I feel cheated. They should upgrade him to an adult account, or transfer all his achievements to a new adult account.

Hi.....since I don't have much information to go on here, this may be the reason why some can't download Castleminer. If you have a child account (under 18) then you are not permitted to download Indie games since they are unrated. Doesn't matter if your
security settings are set to adult or you're allowed to play "M" rated games, child accounts cannot download Indie games. Hope that helps.

Go to Social>Sign In/Out>Download Profile

Provided his was an online account, just enter his Microsoft Account details to download it.

If he was a Child account with you as the parent, at the download profile stage, you can enter your MSA details instead, and you will then be given a list of all profiles attached to yours - including his.

Hi,

So you have created his account online thats great. All you need do now is download the profile to your console. Now the profile you are currently trying to upgrade to Live would need a new email if you were to connect it but you've already created a new
child account on Xbox.com so Go to download profile if its an xbox 360 or if it is Xbox One go to Add new and put in his email and pasword and the profile will download to the console.

Now this new one from the website will be new and seperate from the one on the console and you will not be able to merge them. But after you download the website on you'll have a safe Child account managed by and adult for your son and thats really important
for a child when on xbox live.
