Allow 24hz Mode causes 'Soap Opera Effect' on Blu Rays

If I play a Blu Ray with 'Allow 24hz' enabled the result looks awful - the motion in whatever movie I'm watching will be way, way too smooth and even looks 'speeded up'. It also causes audio to look de-synced, dialogue not matching lip movements etc. Disabling
it gets rid of this problem but replaces it with the problem of viewing 24fps at 60hz, which is albeit a much better experience but still not ideal.

The thing that confuses me is that in my mind 'Allow 24hz' should have the opposite effect of this. It's supposed to make the Xbox output 24fps when watching a bluray, but if anything it appears to be 'filling in' between frames causing the (horrendous)
    Soap Opera Effect.

Is the 'Allow 24hz' mode working as intended? Or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks

    :)

You do realize that Blurays are also native 24Hz as well as 24fps right? go into your bluray settings and make sure it's outputting them into 24Hz, you can also change this on the XB1, originally by default the refresh rate gets upscale if you will to 60Hz
which can cause juddering, just a pro tip on quality that you apparently didn't know, this is why a lot of people turn off the high refresh rate on modern TVs so the TV will play the bluray at it's native 24Hz and not give it that soap opera feel when you
    play it in 240Hz.

    Xbox One bluray and movie

What are your settings you have for display and blu ray movies in the xbox.

Try disabling 24Hz playback and deepcolor mode to see if that helps.

Gaming on a 4K tv will take some getting used too.

Turn off what Samsung calls "auto motion plus" or anything involving smoothing and that will get rid what is referred to as the "Soap Opera Effect"

There also should be a game mode that can be used to lessen screen lag.

    Blu Ray Update?

Ah so they finally fixed the sync problem, awesome, Also no such thing as 24khz, what you may be referring too is people who play there blurays at 24Hz refresh rate, this option is ideally what you want to play your blurays at if you have a 120Hz TV or higher,
the option can be changed under "Disc & Blu-Ray" option in the Settings app, if you have a 60Hz TV then leave it unchecked, which it is by default, if you have a 120Hz or above TV then check it, by default the XB1 will play your Blu-Rays in 60Hz, which the
native refresh rate of Blu-Rays are 24Hz and that doesn't go into 60 evenly obviously so it creates a slight juddering effect, however if you have a 120Hz TV for instance then you'll want this option checked so that the XB1 played the disc at it's native 24Hz
refresh rate and your TV will take that and play it at 120, and 24Hz goes into 120 evenly therefore no juddering effect.
