[Allergy] Are the analog sticks on the original Xbox controllers coated with rubber?

I have an allergy to rubber/latex, and it appears from searching online that the original xbox controller has rubber-coated analog sticks. However, information on this issue is scant, and I would like confirmation as to whether this is or is not the case.

If it is the case, are there any alternatives available?

    :)

  2. CONTROLLER ISSUES - NO HELP FROM MICROSOFT

@CrypticBoz - the issue of the failing analog sticks has been of public knowledge for nearly two years and they've not addressed it, in fact the Elite controllers which are being sold on the pitch that they are of superior durability and craftsmanship as
to extend its longevity when on the contrary they are actually of the same shoddy build as the original controllers as they sport the same plastic pieces on the analog module that fail as with the original controllers, this is what causes the analog sticks
to fail and to develop stick drift

    Next Gen Controller sizes.

I love the PS4 controller. I think the analog sticks for the PS controllers are good. Though so are the Xbox. But I hate how the sticks for xbox controllers go bad really fast.

when you say "original xbox" you mean the very first one, before 360 right? (dumb question, i know, just making sure.) so they had the big one called "the duke", then released the smaller japanese "Controller S" in other regions as well, due to consumer
    demand.

i searched around and couldn't really find anything specifying what it's made out of, though they appear to be a rubber-like substance, lol. the Controller S sticks look just like the ones on the 360, with the 4 dots on them, so perhaps getting some of
those silicon grip covers would be a good option for you. i couldn't really find any that said they were for the original xbox (since it's an older system), but ones for the 360 joysticks should work if you have the small controller. if you have the duke,
it may take some searching before you come across covers made to fit that.

perhaps someone with access to official documentation can give you a more definitive answer on the material.

@QuickMythril, I meant the 360, though I must admit to having never played an Xbox so my knowledge of the consol'es timeline is sketchy at best. It's the one with the 4 dots. I bought the first one ages ago, so in my naivety I assumed it was from the original
Xbox; I'm pretty sure the new controllers are different [Allergy] Are the analog sticks on the original Xbox controllers coated with rubber? :)

Given that the information on what the sticks are coated with appears to be a trade secret, I've gone and ordered some silicon grip pads. At least then I can be sure I'm not touching rubber. Thanks for the tip!

Still, if anyone actually knows whether the tips contain natural rubber, I would love to know. The only information I found was that the tips were "rubberised", which ought to mean coated/treated with natural rubber. There is however a lot of confusion with
different materials sometimes being called rubber and it appears that there are a number of people for whom "rubberised" doesn't mean it needs to contain any tree sap. Google muddies the waters even more by returning hits for "rubber" when you search for "silicone".
Very frustrating [Allergy] Are the analog sticks on the original Xbox controllers coated with rubber? :)

    anyone else?

Your D-pad could be worn down. I know I need a new controller. I have a old usb controller. Get disconnect screen once in a while. Probably a short in the cord. Also the analog rubber is warn down on both analog sticks. I see hard plastic under the
the little bit of rubber coating that's left on it.

Hey Dice thanks for the recent awesome update but

I had to get a new controller two months ago. Mine was over 5 years old. I had the rubber coating worn off of both analog sticks. Also the usb cord had to be taped cause it would say disconnected then couldn't do nothing til it was taped. Also the sticks
would sometimes move on their own or stick at a certain angle. Then when I broke down and bought a new one. lol

    Weird xbox 360 controller problem

1- when you buy a new controller it has a little powder coating on the analog stick where is rotates and pivots. After you've had the controller for a while it can wear out. so try putting a little baby powder in there.

2-You can take it apart and try to clean it. Here is
