All xbox one games digital and physical crash multiple times per day.

Recently, I noticed that after playing one of my xbox one games for like a few hours like halo 5, forza horizon 2 and etc the game crashes and brings me back to the home menu.This happens to me like 2 or 3 times per day whenever I use my xbox one. I power
cycle my xbox one usually at least once a day when I use it to make sure the games don't randomly crash on me, but it still happens. I'm not sure what's causing this issue I don't use an external harddrive and I just have the internal ITB included in my
console and my harddrive is only around 20% full. This issue also seems to crop up when using apps like the IE explorer app to.

Halo Wars 2 Crashes

recently pitched halo wars 2 ultimate edition physical copy. Every time before a mission or skirmish when it says press a to start game as soon as I do the game flashes a black screen and crashes to home. Reinstalled, hard reset multiple times to no effect.
Also deleted save data multiple times

hopefully , its just a software glitch , but a factory restore would be the only fix to try....

 

It could also be a power related issue. If your console isn't getting adequate power then things like memory can crash applications and games due to insufficient processing power. I'd try a PSU reset before doing a full factory reset just in case, since
you don't have an external drive. Try this:

*Turn off your Xbox by holding the your finger on the power icon for 10 secs.

*Unplug your PSU from the Xbox and the wall.

*Unplug the outlet cord from the PSU and let sit until light on the PSU light has died out.

-Note: if the light goes out within about 10 secs, you know you have a power issue. that LED will stay lit for

quite some time on a residual charge unless your capacitors weren't holding an adequate amount.

*Plug outlet cord directly into wall socket (no power strips or surge protectors!).

*Plug cord into PSU, verify amber light comes on.

*After you verify light, then plug into console. When you do this the light will either go white/light blue for a moment and go back to amber (which is normal and what we want), will flash several times and go amber/off (which is bad indicating a bad power
flow), or just stay amber (which is also bad).

If this doesn't work, then a factory reset will be in order, but I'd do yourself a favor and make the investment into an external drive, if for no other reason it will get you back up and running a whole lot faster after the reset since you won't have to
reinstall all your games.

Tried the PSU reset and also deleted and re-added my xbox live profile on my xbox one again and it seems to be working fine so far. If this problem reappears again I will try the factory reset once I get an external drive in a few days.

Nevermind,It was still not working then, but I did manage to get an external harddrive and I managed to factory reset my xbox one and it seems to be working okay so far. Probably need a few days to test it a bit more.

 

Just a quick question, did this cause your whole system to freeze up as well? Mine started with games freezing and crashing, which leads to a complete freeze eventually. It seems like this may be software related.

 

No. The app or game just crashes to the dashboard.I would be playing a game like halo 5 for like 2 hours and when I open a menu like the req menu for example after like about two hours of playing I think the game would crash to the dashboard with no warning.
I noticed forza horizon 2 did this to after playing it for a few hours a couple of days ago. A few apps like the internet explorer app crash to the dashboard to sometimes.

I'm still not sure what is causing it and it has occurred a few times after I factory reset the console. Factory reset did not help at all from what i noticed so far and I'm still testing to see if it occurs.

 

Okay, sounds like a seperate issue to mine but potentially similar cause if it is a software issue.

 

Yep. It looks like it's still crashing to the dashboard. I have no clue what is causing these crashes anymore.
