    I recently got my Xbox 360 (or an Xbox 360, anyway) back after waiting a few weeks for a warranty repair and discovered that all of my saved games were gone. The product had a defect that caused it to stop working in less than one year, which was
    annoying enough, then I lost all of my saved games.
    I have an original Xbox that is about 15 years old and still works well. I even traveled with it and used it abroad. This sudden sharp drop in quality from one generation of Xbox products to the next is very telling. I do not believe I will be purchasing
    an Xbox One or any other Xbox products in the future. Xbox products are obviously much lower quality than they used to be and their warranty repair work is clearly shoddy.

    I remember specifically that they do request removing the HDD before sending. In fact, when I sent my older 360 in for repair up to five times, they always gave me instructions on what to do, and from what I can remember they show taking the HDD off of the
    console, as well as custom faceplates and other accessories, because there's a chance the console will come back without those items and they'll even ship another refurbished model.

    Also if the HDD was the problem, they'd probably ask for just that to be sent in. But I don't even know if they repair HD's.

    It clearly tells you to remove your hard drive before sending a console off for repair.

    Yes, you should have removed the hard drive before sending it in. That said you can still redownload all the games you previously purchased for free.

    Because most people would not assume that the hard drive in a 360 is a mere accessory, maybe MS should be more clear? If their products weren't such cluster f^%$'s, it wouldn't be so bad.
