All of sudden can't play Saints Row IV

Just like a month ago i was playing Saints Row IV thru back compat. I am like 3/4th the way thru. I bought a new xbox one S and signed in and plugged in my external with Saints Row on it. I try to boot the game up and it says i do not own it.

I recommend checking out Saints Row, Saints Row II, Saints Row: The Third, and Saints Row IV. All great open world video games to play on the 360.

 

gta v or saint's row iv?

I plan on getting both, but GTAV takes precedence over Saints Row IV. I really dislike the direction that Saints Row is heading in, but as an old-school Saints Row fan, I have to play it. I'm honestly not expecting much out of it, personally. Saints Row
has become a joke since SR3.

 

I'd suggest uninstalling the game from your external, and then re-downloading it from the store (I'm assuming it's a digital copy). Your game saves should still be intact, as the Xbox One automatically stores game saves to the cloud.

Perhaps the external drive is still "registered" to your old Xbox One in some way. I faced a similar issue when I upgraded to the new Xbox One S from my original one.

 

I can still play all of my other games fine. This is a strange case. I originally seen it in my ready to install games back before they changed the UI to tiles in the game section. I didn't remember ever downloading or buying it, but it let me download and
play it on multiple occasions so i thought maybe i got from games with gold one time and forgot. It is no longer in that list after i uninstalled it. So now that it doesn't work i cant find proof i ever owned it. It only allows me to rebuy it. It is $34 tho
which is too much seeing as how there is a definitive version for $30

 

Hey, With0utJustice! It's likely that someone else had their account on your previous console, made it their Home console, and owned the game. That's why you were able to play it before, but not on this console; this new console isn't set to their Home console.
This is the most common scenario we see with these situations.

If you're unable to find that you own this game, then we wouldn't be able to assist you further. You will need to purchase the game, or the Definitive Edition if you would like to play essentially the Xbox One version, in order to continue playing it.

Hey Misses Quinzel thanks. I thought it may be something like this. All though there has only ever been one other person on my xbox. He also has never owned or played it. But I assumed i would have to just buy it to continue to play it.
