    It's a matter of perspective & where the individual values their investment. For many like yourself there's not a huge discernable reason to upgrade and you're happy to wait for obsolecence or necessity, a situation I was in with Xbox One to start with
    or more akin to how I view my mobile phone for instance. (Run it into the ground!) For others they're already noticing a disparity in quality between what's available on console in 2020 and our PC counterparts and are more inclined to invest for those upgrades
    much in the same way people did with the Xbox One X on release.

    For the avoidance of doubt I don't see it having a significant impact on Series X sales figures, they're laying down a framework to protect January 14th 2020 sales potential to avoid having to try to sell a short term prospect at a premium price. After
    all they don't want a situation where they're asking people to shell out £400 on an Xbox One X only for it to be wholesale replaced inside the calendar year, this is a unique situation which we've never really faced before as no generation has ever had such
    a significant technological upgrade to a generation. Previously we've been used to "slimmed down" consoles releasing after a couple of years, this is the first we've seen "superior" consoles such as the X & Pro released so it's not really something we have
    precident for. The setup they're going for on the other hand is not so unique, we almost always see a "crossover" period, this is just an extension of a prexisting precident where they support a console for a timeframe they're just vocalising their pathway
    this time round which is more unusual.

    According to Matt Booty (head of Xbox Games Studios), there will be no Xbox Series X exclusives for about 2 years because the games will release on that console and the Xbox One consoles; for example Halo: Infinite.

    “As our content comes out over the next year, two years, all of our games, sort of like PC, will play up and down that family of devices,” Booty explains. “We want to make sure that if someone invests in Xbox between now and [Series
    X] that they feel that they made a good investment and that we’re committed to them with content.”

    When it comes to third-party games though, I would assume it will depend on the developer / publisher. For instance, it's up to Activision if they release the next Call of Duty only on next-gen consoles or allow them to also be played
    on an Xbox One.

    It is good for me as i won't be able to afford the new Xbox when it comes out and I still won;t to able to play the new Halo when it comes out.

    I will get the Series X. Maybe not a launch console, but probably sometime next year. We have the Xbox One X here already, but once our media room is done we'll probably want the higher performance console to push out better graphics to our newer tv.

    Honestly, it's a great move for consumers, especially if your purchase is cr****te also means you get the Xbox Series X version if you upgrade c****ng for thurd party games - only having to buy GTA 6 or Cyberpunk once. The ****l first party games will
    support this. How on earth they're going to make a game that is built to fully take advantage of system level NVMe support and advanced physics work on an Xbox One S with a platter drive and Jaguar based CPU cores is beyond me. I just hope it doesn't make
    next gen games worse by making them have to support super old hardware. The issue with the comparison to previous cross gen titles like Forza Horizon 2, or Titanfall is that the last gen versions of those games were seperate SKUs developed by seperate studios.
    All very confusing.
