I would have to say that wired is your best option. All you need is a router, Ethernet cable and your Xbox. The newer slim Xbox360's have built in wireless but having a hard line connected to your console is the best.

  3. Ethernet issues

I am helping a neighbour who is having issues with his XBOX360 S Console ethernet connections

The system was working fine on Sunday, wasnt used on Monday and then when he tried to use it on Tuesday he encountered the following problems. No changes had been made to the system in the meantime:-

All via the System Settings/Network Setttings menu :

    Wireless connection:-

no network seen & when selected get a message saying "To use a wireless Internet connection, connect an Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter to your console" (note S Console has integrated wireless)

To double check I connected my own wireless adapter (from my original Xbox360) and still get the same message.

Note that I can connect to the wireless network fine with my laptop, so know it is workign OK

    Wired Network :-

(Have long ethernet cable plugged into router, but ethernet port on router does not show active when plugged in)

When trying to access the wired network connection on the Xbox get the message "To use a wired Internet connection, make sure an Ethernet cable is connected to both your console & your router or modem"

Tested the cable by connecting it to my laptop (disabled wifi on the laptop) and connects OK & route now shows ethernet port as active.

Looks like all networking functions in the Xbox are not working,. Is there a known fix for this or is it a case of taking it to the repair shop?

    Hey there, Cerberus!

I'm sorry to see any issues with joypads on the Xbox 360 console! I have a few clarification questions first to help nail down what might be happening.

First, do regular controllers work without issue on the console? If so, great, we'll be able to focus solely on the joypads.

Second, do you have another console you might be able to test the joypads on? If not, then I suggest reinstalling the console update to ensure there's nothing wrong on that end. You can do that by going into Settings > System settings > Storage.
Here you will want to do a button sequence to remove the update. LB RB X LB RB X. This is done in order, not at the same time. It will prompt you to uninstall the update, hit yes, and then the console should restart.

After the console reinstalls the update, try hooking up your joypads again. Let me know how it goes!

    AirPods Connecting to Xbox

Hi, unfortunately is not possible to connect the airpods to the xbox since they connect through bluetooth which is not available on the xbox consoles (the joypad is connected with a proprietary wireless protocol). If you want to connect an headset to the
xbox you need a dedicated compatible one or a cabled one to connect to the joypad through the jack.

    Trouble conneting...

Hey Taz, so your internal adapter in the Xbox 360 S previously had no issue connecting to your router, correct? At what point is the connection test failing now? Does your console recognize the wireless signal at all? Lastly, have you tried unplugging the
power cables from your router and modem both for about 15 seconds each?
