    All games keep crashing

My sons Xbox Series S keeps crashing games. It started with Fortnite, now it's every game. You can log into the game on occasions, but as soon as it gets to matchmaking totally kicks you out.

I have tried different accounts on the xbox - still the same.

I have tried different power outlets, and different TV with a wired connection to see if it was the internet but still the same.

I have deleted all saved game cache - still the same a

And today I have factory reset the xbox and started a fresh but again it is still the same.

I am lost as to what to do next other than take it somewhere to pay a fortune to get it repaired as it's 2 months out of warranty now.

Any suggestions or people had this before?

    Many thanks

    :)

    All games keep crashing

Hi and thanks for reaching out. I hope you’re doing well. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you and I'll be happy to help you.

I see you've tried a lot of troubleshooting steps already, which is great. Based on the information you've provided, it seems likely that the issue is with the Xbox itself, rather than the internet connection or the games. Here are a few additional steps you can try:

    - Make sure the Xbox is fully updated with the latest system software

    - Try using a different HDMI cable or a different HDMI port on the TV

    - Try using a different power cable or power outlet

    - Check the Xbox's ventilation to make sure it's not overheating

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be worth taking the Xbox for repair or replacement. Keep in mind that if your Xbox is out of warranty, it can be expensive to repair, so you may want to consider purchasing a new one.

    All games keep crashing

    Hi John,

The only update I have not managed yet is the offline one which I need to do tomorrow as I run on Macs and need a windows PC to format the USB.

I have tried the other steps you mentioned, I have just tried cloud gaming from the game pass which seems to work and has not kicked me out.

Could possibly be a hard drive error??? as it only seems to be games that are installed?

Based on your statement, I believe this to be a hard drive error, yes. However, it is still worth trying to do an Offline System Update. If it still does not work, you may need to consider sending in your device for repair.

Xbox X Keeps Crashing - All Games

Hi Calvin! My name is Darhlene and I’m here to assist you.

I apologize for the inconvenience you’re experiencing with the game crashing. I see that you have already taken troubleshooting steps.

Can you please clarify what you mean by hard reset? Do you mean factory reset and keep my games and apps?

For this case, I highly recommend that you perform an offline system update on your console by downloading a file to a USB flash drive and then installing that file directly onto your Xbox Series X.

    Please follow the steps below:

    1. Download the Offline System Update file (OSU1).

To use the Offline System Update, you'll need:

    a. A Windows-based PC with an Internet connection and a USB port.
    b. A USB flash drive with a minimum of 6 GB of space formatted as NTFS.

Most USB flash drives come formatted as FAT32 and will have to be reformatted to NTFS.

Note: Formatting a USB flash drive for this procedure will erase all files on it. Back up or transfer any files on your flash drive before you format the drive. For information about how to format a USB flash drive to NTFS using a PC.

    To perform the update:

    a. Plug your USB flash drive into a USB port on your computer.
    b. Open the Offline System Update file OSU1.

OSU1 (You can download the OSU1 here at this link) https://www.xbox.com/xboxone/osu1

    c. Click Save to save the console update.zip file to your computer.
    d. Unzip the file by right-clicking on the file and selecting Extract All from the pop-up menu.
    e. Copy the $SystemUpdate file from the .postcode file to your flash drive.

Important: The files should be copied to the root directory, and there shouldn't be any other files on the flash drive.

    f. Unplug the USB flash drive from your computer.

    2. Update your console.

You can update your console using the Xbox Start-up Trouble-shooter. To bring up the Xbox Start-up Trouble-shooter, follow these steps:

    a. Power off your console, and then unplug the mains lead to ensure that the console is completely powered off.
    b. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the mains lead back in.
    c. Press and hold the Pair button (located on the left side of the console) and the Eject button (located on the front of the console), and then press the Xbox button on the console.

Important: The Xbox Series S and the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition do not have Eject buttons. You can bring up the Xbox Start-up Trouble-shooter on these consoles by holding only the Pair button (steps 3 & 4) and then pressing the Xbox button.

    d. Continue holding the Pair and Eject buttons for 10-15 seconds.
    e. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the Pair and Eject buttons after the second power-up tone.
    f. The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Start-up Trouble Shooter.

Please provide me with an update when you finish.
