    Aliens Fireteam won't start, just crashing on few seconds into starting the game


    I've downloaded Aliens Fireteam once it was released on Game Pass, and have not been able to play it at all. The furthest it got into loading is to the 20th century logo. Logs for the crash are always the same:

    I'm running Windows 11 (upgrade from 10) and I've also tried to delete and reinstall the game several times. Also maybe worth of note is that couple of friends that I wanted to play with can run the game without these errors, and I've tried searching around for causes, but have only found posts for Steam version of the game and mostly related to either old GPU drivers (which I have latest from nvidia) or steam overlay causing the crashes, and neither of which applies to my case...

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    I don't think it has anything to do with Windows 11 as I have couple of friends that are running the game on 11 without issues. It could be combination of hardware and how xbox app launches the game (in regards to dx11/12) and xbox app does not have a command line parameters feature so we can try forcing the game to start in one of those in particular so we can test...

    I have the same issue when trying to load the game from Xbox PC Game pass / I I think it’s a windows 11 issue. I have family members running this on windows 10 with exactly the same hardware setup as me and they have no issues

    Thanks for the info, but unfortunately it did not help.

    I'm not quite sure that this is due to unreal engine and DX12 issue as I've been playing other games that are made in unreal engine and with DX12, not sure if any were on xbox appthough, however I may be wrong :).

    There is a solution in this thread by Dravic that may work. This is for psychonauts, but appears to be the same kind of error. Allegedly this is caused by a DX12 issue so watch out for updated drivers beyond the current version you have.

    Ok so here’s a really weird fix I have discovered today … for me at least. Booting the game with a headset connected fixes the issue. As soon as I switch back to Realtek audio speakers as The Default output - the game crashes on load up.
