Alien Isolation.......

I'm still trying to get a feel for how smart this Alien is in Alien Isolation..... It walked right by me in one level and totally demolished a group of humans, then came back, almost right up to me, started walking away and then turned around had me for
dessert. It seems like it is invincible, but how smart is it? Is it beatable? I seem to be always crouched and creeping around.

not beatable from when i played, but not for a lack of trying, it's just too fast, but once you get the flamethrower it is much easier to deal with, just a few bursts and the alien runs away for a short time.

but i also had a few encounters with the Alien, hiding in a locker, or under a desk, and it would just creep by and then come back and find me, almost like it could smell me, but most of the time it would just keep going on by.

 

I finished Alien isolation last week end.

I won't spoiled anything.

I did want to know if it was inviciible and from my test....yes,tried several weapons/traps and it never died.

But there is a story and i guess this why...

Smart ? No but his killer instinct will put you in danger if you make mistakes (noize,ect) and if you don't act smarter that it is (decoy,steath,...)-Alien survivor guide 101.

I played it on third difficulty (don't remember how it's named,maybe hard).

 

Haha, sorry mate, I meant King, he wanted to know about how stupid the Alien was and it really depends on difficulty.

Medium it's pretty stupid, but hard it was all over me, like I couldn't leave this room for half an hour, when I finally did he popped out a vent just down the corridor, scared the *** out of me and also killed me, haha.

 

This game is best experienced on the hardest setting, with headphones on, in a darkened room. Lots of hiding and waiting but it really intensifies the atmosphere of the game which is incredible.

Well I cant remember what difficulty I am at, I did go in change some settings.... turned off the Kinect noise one (explains a lot..LOL) and changed my audio output..... what a difference! Watched Gold Rush tonight so never got a chance to deal with the
Alien....

 

Watch how much you use the flamethrower to make it back off, as it gets used to it and eventually doesn't back off that much, just retreats just out of reach. Also the flares are good at distracting it so you can move. I only started using the flares
in the last portion of the game and wished I had used them earlier. I live in a quiet house so the kinetic noise element really added to the game for me. I remember hiding and it prowling around and couldn't stifle a cough, didn't end well for me.

 

Spending at lot of time with this Game (one of the best so far for this Gen but still Ported to last Gen) I picked up a good number of behaviors about the Alien.

One of the number one cues for it to chase/ attack/ kill is running, not just line of sight. You can be standing almost directly in it's line of sight and even walking but as long as you are walking away and not running it will simply continue to "walk" after
you. As soon as you run though, it will change it's behavior into the run/ charge and kill you. This being said there are many times when you can "simply" walk away from it with your back to it. It is there but will only pursue in the "slow" Alien behavior.

The Flares and such, I never really used them as they seemed to get me killed much more often the actually being useful. The Flame-thrower on higher difficulties after the Alien has learned to "resist" will cause the Alien to charge at you. If your Health is
low enough on Hard, it will still kill you. I think this is one of the biggest difference between Hard and other Difficulties. On Easy/ Normal it can charge you against the Flame-thrower with little to no damage to yourself.

The Motion Tracker is also a no-go. It was cool at first but I soon realized it was a death sentence having it out. The Alien AI has an odd little behavior that if you hear the initial "chirp" of Motion Tracker but don't use it the Alien directly responds to
this and doesn't necessarily pursue you directly. It can pursue like this but the chances seem much lower without even looking at the MT, simply walk away from the local noise that the Alien made while it has started in it's pursuit.

Over all, Alien was an awesome Game and I finally look forward to the next installment from the Devs for the franchise.

I havent played it as games like this freek me out but put this to mind. if you could kill the Alien then whats the point if you kill him then the game would just be about getting out. you cant kill it but what iv seen on twitch its very smart dont run just
creep everywhere and use the scanner

 

It's a brilliant game. If you play on hard or higher it will not walk right by you. I literally crouched the entire game.

The check points are perfectly spaced out. I was super patient so i never died more than a few times in any particular spot.

Do not use your motion tracker unless you are certain it is far away. Use it just to get a feel for where it is or if you are in an area with only androids.

Like LostKauz, I never used the flares except the first time I got one. I would always make sure you have a noisemaker and a pipe bomb on you.

Awesome game, just take your time.
