(Alien Isolation) HDD vs Disk

I have an Xbox 360 (4GB) slim and would like to buy alien isolation. My question is, would purchasing the downloadable version and putting it on a Usb 2.0 Sandisk 32GB give me better performance than Dual Streaming Disk/HDD?

I don't know about better performance but it will reduce the wear and tear on your disc drive. However, instead of purchasing a USB drive why not get an official Xbox Hard Drive to store your content on?

 

I already have the usb drive, and don't want to drop a lot of money on a "official" xbox hdd. Also, I heard that dual streaming from the disk and hdd hurt the frame-rate/loading times at some points. Euro gamer said this:
"Shockingly, frame-rates come crashing down still further at some points, as the engine stalls while waiting for data to be streamed in. Both versions suffer from these stalls in rendering, although the issue is more prevalent on PS3. Alien: Isolation
requires installation on both consoles, with the game streaming data concurrently from disc and hard drive." So I thought downloading it and putting the game on an external usb 2.0 flash drive would fix this. Here is the link to the article if interested: Face-Off: Alien: Isolation

I read that Eurogamer article too. USB Flash has no moving parts, so data seek times are down to a minimum, however, there is still the issue of the shear amount of data that has to be streamed, which means even the fastest flash drives would still suffer.
I'm pretty certain that streaming from disc and hard drive will still be faster than just from flash drive alone.

There is another alternative. Buy the disc version, install the main disc to the console hard drive, and fully install the play disc to a suitably fast USB flash drive. That way you won't be putting huge strains on your DVD drive, and it may help eliminate
performance issues. I did it with GTA V. I installed the game to the hard drive and the play disc to USB Flash drive. The game ran beautifully with no pauses or texture pop-in.

 

The issue is that I only have a 4GB internal hdd. Do you know how big the install disk is? I may just be better off getting the downloadable version and putting it my flash drive if I cant fit the install disk on my drive. Unless I use 2 flash drives
(one for the play disk install and the other for the data)???

 

As you can see, the digital download is just under 5GB. If you purchase a disc based version it will be approximately the same size.

The disc version is on two discs, with an install disc and play disc. The disc version will not work with the 4GB console unless a hard drive is present as I understand it. The digital download is in two parts. Xbox store does not show the total size.

 

Ok, so then the downloadable version would be my best bet, right? As long as the frame rate isn't worse than the disk version I'm good.
