Age Restrictions

Unbeknown to me my 13 year old son created his own Microsoft account, with his own card details and then purchased Vbucks and an XBox Gold subscription. Is this allowed?

If it's paid for DLC then double check all of your family settings. You should be able to download that. If it's free demos and trailers, you have to wait until your account is 18.

Hey Aiidann! If the console thinks you are 17, you should still be able to promote the account. Check for that option under Account Management. Once promoted, your account will no longer be a child account. Let me know if that helps, thanks!

 

At the age of 13 it is perfectly allowed for your child to make their own account. However, under the age of 18 they would need parental consent to access Xbox Live. It is only age-restricted content you wouldn’t want them to access. If they set their birthdate
to the correct age then they would need parental consent. You can set up an age limit on the console, it is called Access to content. I recommend just keeping an eye on what your child plays on and by setting up the Access to content age limit, they wouldn’t
be allowed to purchase anything.
