Age of players

Just a thought here, I know there are all kinds of age ranges on xbox live. Sometimes you want to game with older and more mature people. So I guess my question would be is why has xbox.com or microsoft added a feature to filter out certain age groups? An
example would be only allow certain ages (example being only people over 16 are allowed to add you as a friend). What is the communities thoughts on something like this?

The rating system is mainly to keep them from buying the game, but as long as they have their parent's permission they are allowed to play.

 

If you look on the back of the original Halo 2 game case, there's a disclaimer.

"Xbox Live is not intended for kids under 13."

 

Wouldn't really work due to the amount of kids who lie about their age when starting an account so they can download age restricted content etc.

Plus there just as many idiots that are my age on live as there are youngsters.

 

What Daft said. We live in an age where everyone lies about their age to get games, etc. And just because they are older doesn't mean they are more mature....lol.

 

Yes has said above. Like me tho. late 30s. sometimes she gets mixed up with the kids and me. she can't tell us apart lol

 

Most older gamers are annoying and then ones who aren't are in party chat. Lately I've been playing AC Unity online and it's been mostly younger players or at least they sound young. They've all been normal and not annoying.

 

I would like to have a series of filters for age, cursing and gameplay style. I don't want to offend any one with some light cursing , bad jokes and recreational activities.

They tried it on the 360 with the different "zones" & it just didn't work.

 

i hear you ! being a mature gamer though a matter of opinion lol i dont care of ur age just a good player- the younger kids help me more often then my peers! a point here - adult language can be a problem

 

They did it with the 360.

It worked great.

You'd get the odd jerk from time to time but unless you were a jerk yourself you tended to get paired with people who were also looking to enjoy themselves online.

I'm not sure what it was like if you put yourself down as someone who "was up for a bit of banter" or "competative".

Some people will fail to consider that they got exactly what they signed up for while others will have been jerks themselves but remain convinced to this day that this is impossible. It's got to be someone else's fault.
