Age of Empires 2: DE No multiplayer option

So I was excited to get the new version of AoE and got a couple friends talked into reliving our childhood, and I go to load up the game and get an error stating "User Privilege Error! Sorry, your account settings restrict you from certain features of the
game. Please check your account settings on xbox.com for more information."

I thought it was maybe due to some privacy settings, but everything is set to so I should at least be okay for friends. Then I thought maybe xbox live (?). 2 of my other friends got multiplayer to work with no issue and they haven't had an xbox account for
a long time, so theres no way they could have live. I've tried calling and getting called from xbox, but its always someone who assumes the issue is on console, then they transferred me to the windows department, which then transferred me back to the xbox
department, all after I explained to them my problem each time.

Everything else on the game works. The only things that are grey for me are the mods and multiplayer. It's really upsetting since I got some friends to get it and game tonight. Any help would be appreciated.

Did anyone ever figure this one out? Having the same issue across three child accounts trying to plau AoE2: DE. All content restrictions turned off, and still no luck.

I am trying to get my daughter setup so she can play (child account), and she is having the exact same issue.

I've turned off all restrictions as far as I can tell.

Still getting this error. Very frustrating.

I'm having this issue but for my own account. There are no parental settings or privacy settings that I can find that should restrict this. This wasn't an issue of AoE

E but it is an issue on AoE2

EDIT/SOLUTION

I went through the other xbox apps on my PC and made sure I was signed into all of them - most importantly the Xbox Console Companion. After that I could sign into Xbox Live through AoE2

E with no problem
