after update Xbox One won't recognize USB drive

I have an external USB 2.0 hard drive I have been using to stream media. This worked fine before the update, but since the update my Xbox won't recognize the drive is even connected. Any ideas?

WHY DOESN'T XBOX ONE PLAY MP3?

External USB drive support is scheduled to be added. Has nothing to do with .mp3 playback support. It won't even recognize a USB drive unless you're using it update the system.

 

USB Flash Drive not being Detected?

I'm trying to get my Xbox One to access a USB Flash Drive so that I can play background music. This should be simple, but the Xbox refuses to recognize it. It's formatted to NTFS, so why won't it recognize it?

 

Same here mine is full of films which I watch via Xbox, before update worked perfect, now won't even be recognised by the console, yet still can by my pc, and it's usb 2.0 also

 

Yeah me too i had a PNY 128 GB thumb drive plugged into the console during the November update and it did something to it because it wont recognize it at all! It works on my PC,Laptop,TV,even Xbox360. Other thumb drives i have work and are recognized once
you plug them into the Xbox one! I have formated the thumb drive several times to fat32 to nfs and still nothing. MICROSOFT OWES ME $70 FOR A NEW THUMB DRIVE.

 

Mine was connected during the update as well, though I don't know what that could have caused. The drive still works perfectly fine on my PC. It didn't even occur to me to disconnect it during the update, if that would have made a difference.

 

yeah mine works on my PC, TV, laptop,even Xbox360! I have tried all the tricks they suggested and nothing.

 

ok i got off the phone with tech support and we tried everything! Reformated my thumb drive on my PC and Xbox 360 and still nothing. He said hes opening up a case or something and sending it to the engineers! Still though im out $70 on the thumb drive and
not sure if i to want risk buying another one and have it *** up again when the next update comes around?

 

The thumb drive may very well be fine. I wouldn't buy another one until you have more information on the issue. Obviously, there is something going on with the data drives and I am sure they are not all bad especially if they still work on other devices.

 

I thought xbox one only used usb 3.0 for drives ?

 

I believe it requires a USB 3.0 drive for game saves, but USB 2.0 drives work for streaming media. At least, they worked before the update.

I connected a basic flash drive and it works fine. Go figure.

 

Yeah i plugged in a 3 other 2.0 usb flash drives i had laying around and they worked fine also. Just not not the one that was plugged into the console during the november win10 update! For some reason that flashdrive was "altered or locked out"or something
and its a 3.0 128gb flashdrive.

 

The drive is not detected on my daughter's new Xbox One, either, so it isn't s system-specific issue.

Very odd.
