After update, screen dims when watching Netflix

After the latest update, it seems like the screensaver kicks in when you watch Netflix. The screen returns to normal when you move the controller. A bit annoying to have to do that every few minutes, though. Expected behaviour: the screensaver does not
engage while watching a movie.

Also, it seems to be impossible to pause the movie, then go to the console settings. If I pause the movie, then press the Xbox button, then try to navigate to the left hand side menu (I assume that is what those icons are supposed to be) the movie resumes
playing. Expected behaviour: the movie stays paused when navigating the Xbox screen.

These issues did not occur before the update, so I assume they were caused by the same.

I'm having the same issue and it is quite a pain. When I am watching Netflix, Crunchyroll, or streaming from my computer the screen constantly dims and its killer on my controller batteries.

 

I am having the exact same problem. The screen dims every 10min while watching Netflix. The problem seems to have just started with the update that just took place. (Xbox one)

I cannot find any setting to adjust or disable the screen-dim feature. (I also don't have a kinect)

No settings have been altered within the TV.

What is going on?

 

I am having the same issue. Also the Kinect seems less responsive.

 

I have the same problem. My whole console is also really unresponsive. Kinect camera barely works, constantly freezing, voice commands no longer work either!!!

 

Same issue here.

Not just netflix. Live TV too. Dimming every few mins. Been through all settings and had no luck.

This has only occurred since the update latest update.

Support response please?

My Kinect is also randomly disconnecting all the time since the update. Voice doesn't work anymore either. I guess that's for a different thread though.

 

Same. Didn't start right away, took a few days, seeing it when watching TV. Seems somewhat a screensaver type of mode - when I give an input, it brightens back up for about a minute or so.

 

A follow up - as mentioned, the screen greys out a bit after a few minutes. Any input "wakes" it back up, but I just noticed that the graphic put on screen by the system if always fully bright, even if it takes a little bit for the TV display to brighten
up again (i.e. Kinect misunderstood a command for "sign out" - it put the full profile picture with options up on the screen, which looked normal, but the underlying TV display was still medium grey)

 

Mine is doing the same thing. People keep saying that this is a problem with my tv but I can stream Netflix and Amazon not with the xbox with no problem. I have always been a Microsoft fanboy but they keep messing stuff up with their updates.

 

Mine is having the same issue; the screen randomly dims after a few minutes of watching normal TV. I constantly have to pick up the controller and hit the home button to brighten the screen then "A" to get back to the show. It just started and it's very
irritating.

 

I am also having this issue. When I watch live TV, every 10 mins or so the screen dims. It IS NOT a TV issue. the screen comes right back the second you make an input on the controller. Not to mention my TV does not have any ambient lighting sensor or and
auto dim feater. (Only an auto off). This did not happen prior to the new update. Seems to be ok longer after a soft reset but the issue does return. I haven't seemed to find out what the trigger is.

As for the kinect issues, I had to re-calibrate the kinect then it started responding better to voice and gestures.

I did have a game running in the back ground. Next time this happens I will force close the game and see if that fixes it.

 

I am going to assume this is related to the removal og Gestures functionality with the v10 update. Before, screen dimming would be delayed or disengage if there was a person where the Kinect could see them, now we have this behavior. Worse, the ability
to disable screen dimming has been removed from the system options.

 

I'll have to test this out on my system and post back in a few hours. This is another Major screwup issue we have here MS , hope you are paying attention. Nobody wants to use the product you are selling if if works like this. And on top of that, even
worse we buy a product then you mess it up after the fact we invest in time and money. :^((

 

I also just this evening started having this issue. Things were fine with Netflix at 4pm, played a game for a couple hours, had dinner, came back to watch something then Netflix stared going dim after about 15-20 minutes. Also, noticed when the dimming began
happening that the wireless control no longer turns itself off automatically after a period of no use. Don't know if that's related or a separate issue.
