They won't replace it unless you contact chat support or phone support and work through a trouble shooting ticket. Probably 20-30 pages back I outlined a step by step suggestion I personally took to resolve my issue in October 2014.

I've been told by Xbox staff that they don't believe everyone has my issue but I'd be lying if I said I don't strongly believe that they are wrong. I don't have any proof but I am sharing what resolved my issue.

To be clear my controller would not connect at all outside of 3-4 ft.

If you have frequent disconnections that later connect you have another issue. There is info on how to resolve that by another user about 20 pages back

    :)

ive had my console about 3 weeks from brand new, i'm about 1 metre away from my console yet my controller will disconnect and and the LED light will repeatedly flash over and over until the controller connects again. While it is flashing it will kick me
out of xbox live and disconnect me from any parties or games!!!!! (ive lost multiple fifa games now because of this problem!!).. the batteries are brand new, the console is brand new yet it keeps happening, it happens within 5 minutes of me turning my console
    on

I'm having the same issue with my day one xbox. Even worse is xbox support seems oblivious to this being a common issue so I still have to work out every-single-step even when I've pre-told that that i've followed that support page, updated my controller,
even factory reset my console... Then, even worse, is that my mydevice.xbox.com Device Manager page has been down for MONTHS with the "Sorry, we are unable to process your request at this time. An error occurred. Please try again." error and when I contacted
support... they keep wanting to troubleshoot my xbox instead! This is so frustrating!

There are posts going back a year from MS people saying they understand the frustration and are looking into it... well here we are middle of 2015 and we really have not been told anything worth while other than troubleshooting that does nothing to help
    us.

Are we just supposed to give up hope that this will be fixed? For some of us it can happen multiple times in an hour every day... It is starting to really burn many of us out as the response that we were given a year ago now seems empty.

After the September update, controller is disconnecting all the time!

Talk about a slap in the face when i contacted support about this issue... as stated above, I have a day one console, and as such, have that special logo in the middle of it. I've purchased the microsoft complete plan for console when I bought it at the
microsoft store as well. This is about 3/4 of the way down the transcript - by this time I was EXTREMELY frustrated already...:

    Leslie: at 6:02:53

Upon checking on your devices, the Xbox One is indeed registered right?

    you: at 6:03:43

it should be... if myservice.xbox.com would work...

    Leslie: at 6:05:10

Upon checking here, there is an extended warranty for the console but it does not cover the accessories.

    Leslie: at 6:05:42

Having that said, you would need to buy a replacement controller, you can also try all the browsers you have this time okay?

    you: at 6:07:40

What?! the controller that LITERALLY comes IN THE BOX with the console and the extended warranty plan I bought in the microsoft store is not covered???

    Leslie: at 6:08:28

Microsoft Complete is an extended service plan that provides a total of three years of coverage for your Xbox console and Kinect sensor. Additionally, Microsoft Complete provides warranty coverage for two controllers.

    Leslie: at 6:08:31

Get Microsoft Complete for Xbox One with Accidental Damage Coverage

    Leslie: at 6:08:54

Please check the link sent above for more details for the coverage of Microsoft Complete for Xbox One.

    you: at 6:08:58

but you just wrote "Microsoft Complete provides warranty coverage for two controllers."

    you: at 6:09:21

Is there a phone number I can call for service?

    you: at 6:09:27

    Typing this is too frustrating

    you: at 6:11:39

Please provide me with a phone number so I can directly speak to someone in person

    Leslie: at 6:11:49

Let me try to set up a call alright?

    Leslie: at 6:11:57

What is your best contact number please?

    Leslie: at 6:13:23

Let me check if they are open this time.

    Leslie: at 6:14:39

Oh by the way, I have this checked and raised.

    you: at 6:14:55

if you give me the number, I will call at a later time. I'm running out of time right now

    Leslie: at 6:14:58

We can actually have a replacement but this one's for the Standard controller.'

    you: at 6:15:13

    that's not acceptable

    you: at 6:15:22

buying a day one console includes a special controller

    you: at 6:15:38

and as such, I'd expect a day-one controller to be provided back

    Leslie: at 6:15:43

Your Limited Edition controller is no longer available for in warranty replacement; however, I can offer to process an order to replace your controller with a standard Xbox One black controller. In addition, upon completion of your
order we will provide you with a $15 (in local currency) credit on your Xbox Live account.

    you: at 6:15:50

please provide me with a number I can call at my convenience at a later time

    Leslie: at 6:16:06

Here is our toll-free number 1(800)4MY-XBOX or 1(800)469-9269.

  9. This literally just started for me. My Xbox has been fine until about a month ago, It would disconnect once in a while but as of today my Xbox is virtually unplayable. I even purchased a new controller thinking that was the problem but that didn't help at
all. I'm hoping it's something software wise and can be fixed via patch... I really don't want to wait a month for my out of warranty Xbox to be repaired. As some on here have said, it cold be hardware wise... I hope that's not the case.

    Hey guys,

Long time sufferer of audio interference and the odd controller disconnect here. Been happening to me ever since I picked up the console in March, 2014.

Due to the complete lack of support from Xbox, I decided to bring more awareness to the issue by writing an article about it. Unfortunately, as is always the case with these things, the majority of people who are stumbling across it are of the mindset that
because it doesn't happen to them, then it isn't an issue. We all know that this simply isn't the case.

    www.awesomegames.co.uk/what-is-wrong-with-the-xbox-one-controller

Please show your support and feel free to leave a comment if you're affected in any way. There's also a detailed, comprehensive list of all the things, which should save a lot of you time and money!

Remember, the more exposure this issue gets, the more likely Microsoft will be forced into action!

hello everyone, well , I suffer with this problem for five months , from the first day I bought the console .... this post will make one year and no solution , I sent my Tuesday x1 for support in Valinhos , São Paul .... unfortunately this is the only way
.... it is unacceptable to MS launch a console that just does not work , this is problem in the design ! You lose the will to play this console .... I swear I was going to buy ps4 and ended up buying the xbox .... to kill regret I'd be dead !

  12. Same problem here. It disconnects from time to time and can continue after few seconds.

Ik thought that the latest firmware for the controller should fixed this problem, guess it didn't

After the September update, controller is disconnecting all the time!

Hi everyone. I also am experiencing this issue. I have a day one console with day one controller and a second one i purchased on release. With the charge and play battery pack this issue affects me maybe 1-2 times every hour of play so it makes online gaming
impossible. I have been given a number of possibilities by support over the course of this issue which is about 6-8 months now along with possible hardware replacement. Although this isnt a full on resolution but have found in my case anyway if you use the
usb cable with the play and charge kit and just use the controller as a 'wired' controller this has dramatically reduced the issue....not a resolution but maybe might help some people

I hope this helps other people. This is what I found works best when I'm having disconnecting issues. I've had my XB1 for about a month. I find that if I use the controller to turn on the console then I know I will get maybe 1 disconnect per hour. I also
found that for some reason when the console downloads and installs anything while it's off I will receive a lot of disconnects and will need to power cycle to fix it.

I don't know if this is normal but when I'm getting really bad disconnects and plug in the USB cable making it "wired" the controller still acts up just as bad, so I went through a lot of troubleshooting to try and fix the issue. I also found out that sometimes
having the headset plugged in to the controller can cause a few issues so unplugging the headset, resync the controller then plug the headset back in seems to work for a bit. Idk if the headset has anything to do with it but following these steps seems to
work for quite sometime and I'm able to play for hours with only 1-3 disconnects for my entire session. This is with 2 cell phones,1 wireless home phone, a router, a wireless extender, 3 Bluetooth devices and my PC that's wireless(not always on though) literally
within 5 feet of my controller and XB1. I chalk up those few disconnects to interference.

I thought interference was an issue until I turned everything off and unplugged everything just to be sure. it was still disconnecting several times within 5 minutes and having a wired connection didn't seem to work.

  15. After the June update XB1 6.2.12998.0 (xb_rel_1506.150601-2200) the console cannot communicate with the controller at a distance of one meter away from it. Connect only if the right to bring to it. In the care of the console to a small distance, the controller
flashes. Here's an example of what is happening
