After power outage, XBox Series X has forgotten who I am

My Xbox is connected to a back-UPS, along with television and surround speaks. In the night we had a series of bad power flickers that ultimately ended with total power loss to the home. I had to get up and power off the beeping that resulted from the back-UPS. During the time of the outage, the entire system was powered off and not being used. We were sleeping.

This morning power has returned to the home and my son wanted to play Minecraft. Upon powering up the XBox Series X, it was acting like it did fresh out of the box. My account was not on the Xbox and it even told me it found me "connected to another XBox". It asked if I should migrate that over. I agreed.

Now my son is finding none of his most recently downloaded "worlds" and is in the process of downloading those. My external SSD and the expansion card in the back of the XBox appear to be working normally. To be safe, I have held the power button for the 20 seconds to allow it to restart that way.

All is good. I guess my only question is: What happened to the console? We have had power outages before, some that went for 24 hours or more and never had this much re-do of my console. Any ideas/

If you often have power outages you should configure the console on power saving start mode, as it's possible that the console was updating during the power issues and that's why it ended being restore

I have seen this happen on My X Console when we have had a power outage or power fluctuation. Is it possible there has be a power outage or other power event since you last turned the console on?

I have had this once. Just like you, turned out everything was intact after doing the set up. Not sure why it happened though.

I would suggest just going with the Reset and keep my games & apps as it will reset the OS and delete all potentially corrupted data without deleting your games or apps. The OSU won't delete your games & apps as well but since there's no updates available on your console, it not necessary to preform it. However, if case you face the start up screen again, you can go with the OSU.
