After installing ESO, the external HDD is not found

I installed Elder Scrolls Online last night, and let it download all the updates while I slept. This morning I was able to start the game, but I was out of time to play, so I powered down the console and went to work. When I came home from lunch, I powered
up the Xbox and now the external drive is no longer showing up. I have my setup to install to the external drive by default.

I called Xbox support (case # available if needed) and after connecting to a different port and even a factory reset they told me that the external drive failed, but it shows up as a healthy volume in Computer Management if I plug it into my laptop.

Please help me. Every bit of my game data is on the external device

    :)

    Installation stop

Sorry to hear you're having Difficulties installing, Do you have an internal and External HDD?

I'm only asking as I had the exact same problem when I tried re-installing after I bought an external har drive

if so set your internal HDD as the default drive for new to do this go to settings ->console -> Manage storage then set <internal hddname> as default install and hopefully this should work After installing ESO, the external HDD is not found :)

    Hi xombie4less,

Sorry you're having issues with your external drive. As the game is loaded on that drive, as long as you play online, your saves should be safe in the cloud. With the hard drive, if you have it plugged into your Windows machine, try to format it (you will
have to reinstall all games on it), then see it can be seen in your Xbox. Also please see the link below for troubleshooting external hard drives not found.

Beside of reporting this to MS. You need to report this to the developer of the game. So they both can work a fix together to find who in fault. But that what ij going to add to this answer.

Error Code : 0x803f8001 (Do you own this game?) for Game Pass games.

    Thank you for your answer!

Had the games on external HDD.

After i uninstalled, the new download was in the internal HDD. Didn't work.

I copied the new installation to the external HDD, still nothing.

FPS drops when playing games PLEASE help me

    Hi there,

just to be sure, are the games installed on an external hdd? If so can you try what happens if the game is installed on a different external hdd or the internal hdd.
