After dashboard/controller update, controller no longer automatically assigns to me.

Every time I turn on the system I have to go into Settings and manually assign my controller to myself, otherwise I can't use a headset.

I don't know if it was the dashboard update or the controller update that did it (I got them both at about the same time), but it's a real pain in the ***.

Can you try power cycling (support.xbox.com/.../power-cycle-console) your console? If that does not work, try again and when the console is off connect the controller
to the console via USB when you start it up.

Didn't work. Is there some way for me to uninstall the controller update? I think that's what caused it.

 

I edited my last post to say I fixed the problem, but it's not showing up and I don't seem to be allowed to edit it again.

So just for the record, I fixed it by signing out and signing back in. I don't know why that worked and restarting the system didn't, but there you go.

 

i also think there is an issue with the new controller firmware for 2015 controllers. I reported my thoghts MS Support via twitter.

 

Okay, so I fixed this last night, and I tried editing my post to say that, but it wouldn't show up, and now I'm locked out of editing ALL my posts.

Then I tried to make a new post but that won't show up either.

So, for the third time: I fixed this by signing out and signing back in again. You may or may not have to assign the controller first.
