Is it really worth setting the output to 1080p?

Always use what the native res of your tv, 90% of the time the scaler in the tv is worse the the one int he xbox so using its native res will be better then using 720p and having the tv scale it to fit 1080p pixels. Scaler in the xbox isnt bad, it wont
make the actual image look better but its good at making a 720p image into 1080p. Always use the the TV's native res.

Is there support for 1080i on the Xbox one ?

I own a Samsung D300-B projector in my home theatre. It's DLP chip is native 720p but with the 360, I can use it in 720p and (upscaled) 1080i or 1080p. Unfortunately, with the XBOX ONE, it is only allowing me to select 720p. I cannot change it to anything
else. I have a BenQ projector that supports 1080p which I will be testing tonight to see if it works on it... even though the native resolution is not 1080.

Help connecting my XBox to my projector - Should be working

I have BOTH an optoma HD600X-LV (720P) and just got a Optoma HD131XE (1080P). after about 2 years on my 42" LG tv my xbox 360 Slim would no longer connect by HDMI, however it did connect to my new 720p Optoma projector fine so i wasn't that bothered. However
i have just upgraded to a Optoma 1080p projector and my xbox 360 will not connect the projector pauses on HDMI 1 the screen goes black for 10 seconds and then it cycles through the other inputs. My xbox one however will work on both and the 360 does play thought
the 1080p but only when played through the xbox one with lag.

Any ideas on a box such as DVD player etc that has hdmi in and out that i can use to re-route the signal same as the xbox one without lag?

    Support Chat regarding 1080i

Rubbish! They are just fobbing you off.

I guess you could argue that 720p is superior if you were buying a new TV, but 720p on a 1080i TV need re-scaling and interlacing and would look much worse than 720p on a native 720p TV.

And as for "Better"? That's down to taste. They both require about the same amount of information per frame. A fast moving image should therefore look smoother on 720p, but a static image will have twice the detail on the 1080i.

The lack of support, and lame excuse, for owners of existing hardware is appalling.

(BTW I don't agree with you on one point. Screen size. If you are sitting up close (like you would at a PC) then 1080(p or i) looks much better even at 22")

For the record, in my game room I use an old 720p projector at pretty close range on a 73" screen and in the living room I have a 42" 3D LED backlit LCD 1080p screen. Both look fab, and I'm in no hurry to upgrade my 10+year old projector! Lucky for me they
    still support 720p.
