    Advice: Microphone without a Headset


    Hi all,

    I've currently got a medical condition that means I can't wear any headset or earphones of any kind for at least 3 months. I'd rather not give up talking to people while I play for that time so I'm looking for any alternative suggestions you might have.

    I do have a Kinect for my X1 which I'm currently using but for my friends to hear me I have to sit far closer to the TV than I'm comfortable with.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Will any headset without a microphone work with the Xbox one headset adapter?

    Hi everyone, I am going to buy the headset adapter and was wondering if it is a must for my headset to have a microphone. I want use a headset just for game audio and not for chat. Will any headset without a microphone work with the adapter?

    Mic appears to be stuck on mute.

    Hi, in party there is a setting to mute your microphone, if that is pressed it mutes your microphone without turning the light on the headset on.

    Check in your party settings to see if your microphone is muted. If this works for you or if you need more help, post a reply! Advice: Microphone without a Headset :)

    I had seen this advice in another thread and none of these help the issue, the microphone works, the headset works, but the software incorrectly shows that it is transmitting when silent. Even when I mute with a button on the headset the xbox party interface flashes like I am talking.

    Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately it was already set to that. I changed it and switched it back to headset and it still doesn't work. My console isn't even recognising that I have a headset plugged in any more, never mind the microphone. I want to buy
    a wireless headset but I'm thinking I don't want to waste my money if that doesn't work either :)
