So my xbox one won't read discs anymore but everything else works. They are sending me a new one though. I am wondering what is best way to transfer everything from my old xbox to the new one. I thought maybe could back up everything on the cloud or should
I try something else? Also might be a dumb question but I purchased a couple of games digitally. Will they transfer over fine can I just re download them onto my new xbox?

    :)

    Question About buying a Xbox

The transfer cable is only needed for transferring data from one hard drive to another. So if you were transferring your game saves from your old xbox hard drive, then you would need a transfer cable or flash drive. Otherwise, you can just follow GreyPilgrim's
advice and you'll be all set.

Buy a external hard drive. Move all your stuff to it. Plug into the new Xbox One and presto - it's all there. If not, good luck re installing and re downloading everything.

Get an external HDD and move everything to it.

You can re-download anything you've already purchased.

Edit: Too slow. Advice for transferring data from old xbox one to replacement. :(

All your game saves will be backed up in the Cloud already and all your digital content can be downloaded again. You don't need to do anything apart from retrieve your profile and download your owned content game saves will synch up automatically, It's
    all good!

everything is backed up automatically to the cloud. you don't need to do anything. you can just log in on your new xbox and re download/install everything. If you want to save time, you can move all your games to an external and then just plug the external
    in the new one though

  9. As others have said, it should be an (fairly) easy transition. The only thing you need to do is decide which way you want to do it. If you get an external HDD, it may be quicker and easier to move all your games and any downloaded apps to it.

It might also be something to consider if you have a slow internet connection and/or your ISP has a data cap, since you won't need to re-download anything that can be moved via the external HDD.

Also, as others have said, you don't need to be concerned about game saves or your profile, as that is already saved to the cloud automatically. When your new X1 prompts you to log in, just put in your login info and it should sync all your profile, preferences,
game saves and etc. for you. Good luck with your new console.
