Advice for purchasing headset?

Hi all - I'm a bit lost here. Trying to purchase a headset but most I've looked at (mainly on Amazon) say that a Microsoft adapter is needed for original xbox one contollers.

First of all, I bought the machine refurbished about a year ago for the specific purpose of playing ESO - other than that I use it for Netflix/Prime Video.

Basically I am fairly certain that what I have is the "old" model but I'm not sure how to tell for sure, or where to go about looking for said adapter, etc. I'm by no means a gaming expert just want to make sure I purchase the best working equipment for
my setup.

New to XBOX One, should I get one?

I've yet to purchase an Xbox one, but I'm considering it due to how great it is. Can anyone give me advice? Is it truly a Microsoft masterpeice or a piece of futuristic trash?

Gamestop is an place to buy a headset. I have Hyper X's and they are stury and have in game volume and all the little toys you would want in a headset.

That statement is true but it's easy to tell whether the controller is the old model or the ones being produced today. The main difference is the newer controllers have a 3.5 mm input for audio jacks, widening the amount of headsets that can be compatible
without needing the adapter.

My best advice however is to still look for a headset that comes with an adapter as the 3.5 mm inputs on the controllers experience more technical issues.

The official Xbox Stereo headset comes with an adapter but some third party headset manufacturers make headsets for Xbox One that have their own version of the adapters **** into the same port. Some examples are Astro, Turtle Beach, Plantronics, etc.

Hi

Even if your controller does have a 3.5mm audio jack I would personally still recommending getting a headset that includes the adapter or purchasing a second headset adapter as this gives you the ability to adjust the headset volume and mute the microphone
very easily and I think the headset adapter is worth it for this convenience.

I have considered the A50 but as you say the lack of X1 support is disappointing. This is partially the reason I'm drawn to the XP400 and the X42 as there is a current promotion for a free X1 adapter. Cheers for post Busta.

I own the 500X and i'm really satisfied with the sound quality and the direction of the sound so to say. the only bad thing though is that i have already broken 1 set of 500x. It cracked in the plastic above your ear, hard to explain but i got a new set
from the store on warranty. but if was in your shoes i would wait a bit for the 800x that should be here in EU in any week now. better designed and full BT compability to your phone.
