As a subscriber to Netflix, I can assure you that they have no advertising whatsoever, which makes them awesome. Add to that the fact that it's no longer behind a paywall, means you'll have a good reason to be a silver account holder. Hulu Plus, on the other
hand, is a service I do not subscribe to, but my brother does. Despite the fact the fact that he pays for it every month, he STILL gets advertising during every show that he watches. On the rare occasions that I use the free version of Hulu on my PC, I get
advertising too. The difference is that I usually have to suffer through 4-5 commercials whereas he only suffers through 1 or 2 per commercial break (and there's about 3 or 4 of those commercial breaks per show). So in a sense, you're basically paying for
less advertising (and of course the ability to watch Hulu on other devices in HD), but having those advertisements is still a pain in the rear...

The advertising issue isn't the only thing that's holding me back from buying an Xbox One at this moment in time. There were very many issues that repulsed me on the launch of Xbox One which i won't go into here as i think you probably know what i mean and
don't want to sound like a troll.

However, over the last few months Microsoft have made some major decisions which for me personally are a change for the better, and show signs that there is a slight posibility further down the road that i might buy one, but still feel there's alot that
needs to be done to convince me and regain any sort of trust and whether that trust can be upheld (one bitten twice shy)

  3. Johnny, don't be afraid to express your concerns with the console, there's nothing wrong with doing so. Just don't go around ignoring and disrespecting others' opinions if they differ from yours and you should do fine and not be called a troll. Giving supporting
evidence or facts and not blatantly shouting assumptions like, "but most people" can also help support your reasoning. If you want, you can PM me the issues you still have with the console and I'll let you know whether MS is likely doing something about it
or not. 'Advertising' query on UK consoles ;)

I actually like those 3 features boxes, as they so far have been related content more than adverts.

  6. Exactly, Davey. There are no actual advertisements shown in Soldier's images; only related content specific to Xbox Live.

  7. @Galatic Geek

Thanks galatic, fortunately i haven't been called out as a troll on these forums yet, but am all to wary not to go shouting off about things as i like to hear people responses and opinions, however i have also seen many, many people making valid points in
a genuine manner and getting called out as a troll and then facing the wraith of the Xbox One community 'Advertising' query on UK consoles :) - but that's for another thread and not really an issue for me as i have the nouse to distinguish between the two.

    @LTA Soldier

Thanks LTA Soldier - TBO that doesn't look all that bad regarding adverts, but again it comes back to trust - who is to say that with the next update it won't be 50% adverts, if they do this, there is nothing i can do about it.

    -

I think i mentioned it on another thread somewhere that the only thing that could restore my trust is 'a legally binding terms and conditions agreement' which details Microsoft cannot make a u-turn on it's recent changes to service / policies regarding DRM,
used games, always online, kinect, paywalls, etc etc.

    -

Otherwise what's to stop them going back on these changes ?

tbh i dont see how they could add more adverts, there's simply not enough ui space, unless they added new slides but then you'd still be able to ignore that slide completely anyway, the way they have made the home pane with the middle section being the dominating
part i simply can't see anywhere on there that would allow more adds to be squeezed in, it would have to go in relevant store channels etc

  9. i sincerely hope your right LTA - but i thinks it's gonna be an interesting year for Xbox One but feel whoever made the decision to put Phil Spencer in charge could be a game changer, as i personally feel he is definitely the right man for the job - apart
from myself of course 'Advertising' query on UK consoles :)

Paying for a service doesnt mean NO advertisements. See Hulu+ as a prime example

Speaking of films and advertising, my brother and I were supposed to catch the 4:50 showing of X-Men: Days of Future Past this evening. We were late and didn't arrive until 5, a full 10 minutes late! Despite being late, the movie itself didn't start until
5:10! There was a full 20 minutes worth of previews! I'm going to start being late to the theater from now on... :|

The Xbox One has three "featured" panels which show the newest games or movies, or game related content. In the Store, there are panels for the newest game, and a single "advertisement" pane for a variety of MS products. So honestly, you aren't seeing much
    advertising?
