'Advertising' query on UK consoles

One of the things i despise about the Metro interface was the introduction of more adverts being pushed down my throat on my 360 - And basically the reason i will never take out an Xbox Gold Service again, until it's removed entirely.

Please could the UK Xbox One console users give me an honest review of how much advertising there is on this console in comparison to the 360.

Is there more or less on the dashboard ? Has any advertising been introduced anywhere else ? - Any other thoughts on this !

Worms Battlegrounds is now available on Xbox Live

As a friend of mine pointed out to me.

On the UK store it's £19.99, most online retailers here in the UK are advertising it for £25+ so finally a game that's cheaper to download

This is UK. We would need worldwide sales to determine how effective or ineffective advertisement was.

 

I still dont get the complaints about the advertisements on 360. It would be one square in the corner, and then suggested content. Was fine in my book.

 

Totally agree with you now that i'm a Silver account holder, adverts are acceptable on a free service ! - But not on a premium service IMO !

But i don't really want to start a discussion about it on this thread, i'm just after info / opinions regarding the Xbox One and the amount of adverts.

 

The Xbox One has three "featured" panels which show the newest games or movies, or game related content. In the Store, there are panels for the newest game, and a single "advertisement" pane for a variety of MS products. So honestly, you aren't seeing much
advertising?

 

advertising is part of modern life, it certainly could be a whole lot worse, at present its not even on my radar, although I have enjoyedsome of the info adds, like the engine videos

 

I only usually see 1 tiny advertising tile in the Xbox store for advertising - everything else is suggested content for Xbox Live, as 24 has already said. I'd be surprised if you can't handle ignoring 1 small tile in the entire UI. :|

 

The ads on the X1 are not as bad as on the 360 yet... Wait till the install base gets bigger right now there are not enough consoles for them to waste there money advertising on it

But this is Microsoft and they have a track record so you no it's coming.

 

BSTN has a record of hating MS. He has no idea what he is talking about, an advert is nothing special in a Store but most of it is suggested content.

 

There aren't as many on the ONE.

I dont really notice them tbh ..

Salespeople phoning to say I definately qualify for a new boiler 4 times a day , When I dont ,..thats annoying .

 

Fantastic, thanks for the info everyone, it pretty much sounds very similar to the xbox 360 at the moment then, which i guess would be fine for me as a xbox silver member.

I just pray Microsoft don't start introducing new ways of forcing advertising on us once they have a larger user base, which was one of my major concerns of Kinect, but fortunately that plan has been layed to rest.
