I still haven't seen these ads you're claiming to see op. Why's that? Cause I'm not nitpicking the home dashboard apart seeing every little non-gaming ad. The day they do like everything non related to gaming is the day I'll be like, oh hey that DJ 'PREACH
AGAINST ANTI GAMING ADS' guy should be making a thread right about now. Call me whayever you want, anti consumer or whatever. I just don't see why you're so fussed about one box taking up a stupid ad. P.S Taco Bell is garbage. Go make some proper Mexican food
    m8.

  2. I'd actually prefer to see ads, as long as they would direct me to games [or relevant aspects] that I may be interested in or haven't heard of and as long as they aren't bombarding me with them.

I don't like the idea of having non-gaming related ads... but if it's just a simple, small ad on a small tile... I couldn't care less. I'll do just what they don't want me to do in that case... ignore it.

then this is simply a difference in opinion, i consider the little ad in the corner as a passive ad, it's not affecting me, i'm not affecting it, but pop-up ads, ads you have to watch before you get to the content you want, or otherwise forced to interact
with, to me are intrusive ads and i would be making a stink about it, but one little ad that in no way changes my experience.... i'm not defending, i just don't care.

"the vast majority of people do not want third party ads on their home screens. The people that don't care are the small minority,"

Once again we see the Vocal minority claiming to be the majority.

    Get a grip.

So you think that the majority of gamers actually want third party ads for things like Mountain Dew and Taco Bell on the main home screen of their games consoles? And I'm the one that needs to get a grip? lol.

OF COURSE the majority of people don't want this stuff. The fanboys will defend it. Everyone else will say "why the hell is this stuff on my Xbox One's home screen?".

    Stop defending anti-consumer practices.

No im saying the Majority of gamers probably dont even notice its there at all and proceed to click on game/app tiles and continue to use their X1 uninterupted.

It's a matter of perspective. We should really just drop it. From what I have seen, some care, others don't so long as they are not intrusive. I am really not bothered by 1 tile designated for advertising.

But I am about to get me some Taco Bell with a Mt. Dew

  9. That link is useful Rippen but it doesn't do what you think.

Sure it turns of 'personal ads' those that are given based on your purchase habits, but it wont stop you getting Coors Light or Taco Bell advertisements on your console.

I dont care if it doesnt. The cry of anti consumer on a homescreen tile is just as pointless. At least he will have something to click to make him feel better about big bad Microsoft.

Here's the results (so far) of the straw poll I posted on the Xbox One sub-Reddit: -

64% are OK with seeing ads if they're related to games, such as game sales, new game trailers etc.

24% would rather there were no ads at all on the home screens.

12% are OK with all ads, even if they are for things that have nothing to do with games, such as Taco Bell.
