    How do we change an adult account to a child account. We tried changing the birthdate, but it still says it is an adult account.

    Xbox one - Changing Adult Account to Child Account

    Adult accounts cannot be made child accounts. Only child accounts can be converted to adult accounts. Not the other way around.

    Unlinking an email/parental email

    So, if I understand, you account is an child account and you want to unlink your parent's account from yours? Unfortunately, child account are not allowed to be managed without and adult account attached, you can ask yours parent's (adult account owner)
    to contact support and ask for a change of adult account, re-alocating the child account to another MSA adult

    We fixed it!

    Had to remove him from family and re-invite as child.

    Adult to child Account

    You may want to keep this in mind though.

    Just because you changed the DOB on the account to on that is under 18 does not mean that the xbox profile recognizes this when an account is originally setup whatever the DOB is at that point will always be the DOB for the account.

    With that being said even though you added him as a child to the family he may still be able to go in and make changes to his settings and everything without having to do it through the adult account.

    Was really happy about this future too. BUT unfortunately, if your child has been playing using an adult account, to implement family features, you must start with a new child profile. This means
    blowing away all progress! A major drawback of the feature design, given that the kids that need restrictions the most are likely the ones who have a lot invested in their gamer tag / profiles. It makes the implementation of these features
    seem very punitive (form a parent's perspective and a kids - and there is no way around it that I've been able to find :-(

    Is the account in question a child's or adult's account? If its a child account you may want to change it to an adult account and give it a shot.

    There are three accounts in total, two adult, one child. The info I gave previously was from my adult account.

    I'm just checking his child and our adult statuses.

    My account is Adult and his is Custom (Child setting interfered with his gaming).

    You can change a child account to an adult account, but you can't change an adult account to a child account. In order to manage them, you would have to create new child accounts for them.
