  1. Adult account, but prompted to get parent's permission for purchase

When attempting to purchase the "Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey / Three-Fourths Home: Extended Edition / Paranautical Activity Bundle" (on sale this week), I am prompted with a message indicating some kind of content restriction. When trying to purchase through
the Microsoft website (Buy Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey/ Three Fourths Home: Extended Edition/ Paranautical Activity Bundle - Microsoft Store),
I get a message saying "To buy this, an adult needs to change your family settings at account.microsoft.com/family." When trying to purchase through my Xbox One, I get a message saying something like "you need to get your parent's permission."

My Xbox Live account is an adult account, and always has been - I was a legal adult when I registered it. I have never had any issues purchasing content of any rating. I am still able to play M-rated games on my console (for example, Metal Gear Solid V).
There is one other Microsoft Account in my Family, but it is also an adult account. There are no child accounts associated with my Family, and there never have been.

I have spoken with Xbox phone support twice already - case numbers 1352513867 and 1352799048. During those calls, I have done the following (sometimes more than once):

    - Waited 24 hours, then tried again (this issue was first noticed Tuesday, 8/23)

    - Rebooted the console

    - Reset all Privacy, Security, and Content Restriction settings on the console to ensure that nothing is restricted on any account

    - Reset all Privacy, Security, and Content Restriction settings through account.xbox.com to ensure that nothing is restricted on any account

    - Changed my profile to require a password when making purchases on the console, then changed it to require a PIN code

    - Removed my family member's account from my Family, then re-added them

    - Deleted all profiles from the console, then re-added them

    - Shut down the console, unplugged it at both ends, unplugged the router, then plugged everything back in

    - Reset the console to default settings (keeping games and apps)

At present, I have been advised to wait 24 hours before making another purchase attempt, as there is "maintenance" ongoing with the Microsoft store / Xbox marketplace. I was on the phone for almost two hours before I was told this, and I am concerned that
this was said in order to end the call, as opposed to being a legit troubleshooting step. I am concerned that there is something wrong with my Microsoft account, since this has been going on for multiple days (at least) and occurs on both the console and the
PC. Any additional assistance would be much appreciated.

    :)

    Seriously?!

I had upgraded my account to an adult account about a year ago and it's still asking me for my parent's permission. I'm sorry, this is ***. I deleted my parent's email account so long ago. Seriously thinking of switching to PSN. This is ridiculous.

    I shouldn't need parent's permission!

I turned 20 this year and have an adult xbox account. And yet when I try to look at my privacy and online settings on the xbox website, it asks for my parent's e-mail and password! Why is it doing this? Surely I shouldn't need my parent's permission any
    more?

I'm trying to purchase this linked bundle. The games are individually rated, but it's not clear if the bundle is. Most game pages have the ESRB rating on the right side of the screen, but this bundle's page does not. Could very well be the same issue.

if you try going into something like forza horizon 3 or gears of war 4 and trying to preorder see if it takes you to the payment screen or brings up the "parents permission" first? that will confirm if we have aame issue. i hope its just a fault in the new
software update or something else. cant be dealing with this forever and highly doubt microsft will cone back with an answer to be honest.

just tested the paranautical activity and it would let me download it no problem as its a rated game 16+. the bundle though gives the "parents permission" error as it is has no rating. the thing is one of my friends just pre ordered forza horizon 3 which
is unrated with no problems. looks like its defo an account bug for both of us?

    No its not a bug

You need to promote your accounts once you come of age

Setting privacy permissions doesn't affect your account status it's only for messenging

You can call xbox support and ask your actual account status if it's adult or child

Never ever post Sr numbers online it's a security risk to you as it's has private info in it so when someone malicious calls in with that number they can get yourself number your name etc etc etc

If you have content settings you have a child account fyi

Changing your privacy settings to adult doesn't make your account an adults
