Just wanted some insight on what this port is used for. I discovered my Xbox One was attempting to talk to Microsoft at 13.91.56.75:1098 [UDP] when running a multiplayer test. By design, my firewall blocked these packets as it is not an allowed port per
my firewall configuration based on ports to be opened as listed in this forum. What exactly is Microsoft using this port for? Is it strictly for testing or is this a port I should consider opening? If so, to whom? Just the Microsoft AS?

Research sourced by SG shows this as a port I will definitely not forward and only open with caution. IANA lists the official use of this port for the service "RMI Activation", of which I have no idea what this means. Basic Google-fu [Re: BING Additional Network Ports for Multiplayer Gaming: Port 1098? ;) ] indicated
    this is used as follows,
"The rmid tool starts the activation system daemon, so objects can be registered and activated in a Java™ virtual machine.". SOURCE: IBM
    .

    SG Source: Port 1098 (tcp/udp)

    IANA Source: https://www.iana.org/assignments/service-names-port-numbers/service-names-port-numbers.xml

    Thanks!
