There are many things to consider when connecting to a multi-player.

    - Check your accounts active live gold subscription at Account.live.com > Services & Subscription page.

    - Check your NAT type or Network status at Settings > Network > Test Network and multi-player connection.

    - If Issues with NAT type is set to either, Moderate, Strict or Unavailable. Proceed to follow the steps on this link Xbox One NAT Error | NAT Type Help.

-Performing a hard reset on your Xbox is highly recommended - turn off - unplug cables.

-Do the same on your Network device/router.
