  1. Adding more structure to Xbox Live

Someone from here said there's a place to post this where gaming engineers would see it, I'm 5 min late to work so I don't have time to look so. Hope you find this

If you asked the general population 20 years ago what they thought about video games, and if they believed it was a waste of time, I believe we could all agree it would be pretty much unanimous. If I had to guess, things like "it rotts your brain" or "you'll end up flipping burgers the rest of your life" would be among some of the top answers. But- if you asked that question today, I'd be willing to bet everything I own that somewhere around 96% out of 100 people aged 20-32 that can't be claimed as a dependent on anyone else's taxes would say just the opposite.

In fact, I did ask 100 people between the ages of 20-32 what they thought about video games and if they believed it was a waste of time. 96 of 100 had positive things to say about video games. Things like "You can actually have a career playing video games now", and "the amount of money people, I mean lots of people even kids can make playing(video games)is crazy". On top of that, 91% believed it helped with hand-eye coordination, and 85% said that they believed engaging with others to achieve a common goal on a video game gave them a sense of accomplishment.

Boy, the times are a changin. I posed the same idea on a different sub, and I must've spilt pigs blood because WOW did the trolls come out. Given the nature of the proposal, I'd bet they fell somewhere in the under 18 age range. So, what was the idea? I brought up a common issue that I've come across while playing online, and offered a solution.

And to trim all the fat- The problem: Trying to interpret strategy to someone who's age you are uncertain of due to them not using a mic to communicate, or any other reason that would make their age range undeterminable(In this time in society that could be a plethora of things). The Solution: Some way that makes it easy for others to know theyre wasting all their time explaining a somewhat complex strategy to joeblow1234, bc he's 8.

This is where the Trolls found their in last time, as they were able to unravel the unknown and point out the fact that predators could benefit from knowing someone's age- even though every other site on the whole internet that you can make a profile on gives you the option to display your age. Yawn.

My point is that video games are evolving. It's not just something that some randoms gather on the weekends to burn some time. There's serious players out there. And a lot of them. I'm sure this path of evolution is the same for just about every other sport out there. It all started with just some dudes, kicking a ball between some trash cans. But eventually some of those dudes got serious, and wanted to kick the ball between the trash cans at a competitive level.

Part of a good competition is leveling the playing field. Just about every other sport competes by age, or weight, etc until you reach a professional level. The world of gaming is growing, and eventually it will be indistinguishable from our reality. And what happens when playing/watching Madden, is no different than playing/watching an NFL game today, minus the injuries??.. I'm no genius, and I see where this is going. I'm sure it won't be hard for someone at Microsoft to follow that either.. Adding more structure to Xbox Live now isn't doing anything that's not going to happen eventually. It's just getting on the evolution train a little sooner....

I also understand that to develop something like this costs a ton of man-hours, and if the timing isn't right and the demand isn't there yet, then you might as well just buy a boat. With the advancements in gaming tech I've bumped into just rummaging around the internet, I might not bet the farm today but. Very, very soon... And yes, guy who's thinking about leaving a comment about the complexity of creating such a system for such a dynamic range of users- I know. This is just the pitch. There's an infinite numbers of ways to skin a cat. I'm just presenting the cat.
