Adding Friends and Privacy settings on Minecraft.

Hi, so I play Minecraft on java and bedrock. And on bedrock it doesn't allow me to add friends or join anyone's worlds, I've looked over about a million websites and tried to access the privacy settings but I either can't find them or it doesn't work. What do I do to allow me to add my friends and whatever else? It also previously worked but now doesn't.

To change the Minecraft Realm privacy for everyone, follow these steps:

Sign in to your Xbox account.
Open the Xbox app and select “Minecraft.”
Select “Settings” and then “Privacy and security.”
Select “Change online privacy and security settings.”
Select “Everyone” to allow anyone to join your Realm, or select “Friends” to allow only your friends to join.
Save the changes.

but which privacy settings, the Minecraft settings, or the Xbox app settings?

Make for sure you have each other added as friends in case his privacy settings are set up that way.
