Adding an X1 console to the house

Hi,

I've seen some guides on this on other sites, but not anything that exactly matches my issue. Hoping someone can help.

We have an X1 in our playroom. There's three people using it.

User 1 -has gold and the machine is set up as their "home." They have bought some digital games.

User 2 - has bought some digital games.

User 3 - Uses it but hasn't made any purchases.

Right now all of us can play any game on the console and use gold and life is good.

User 1 wants their own console to put into another room.

Is there a way to do this that does not involve buying another gold subscription and additional copies of each game?

Does the new console become "Home" for User 1?

A perfect example is FIFA. We have a digital copy. If User 1 is playing it on their new console in their room, can User 3 still play it on the old console in the playroom?

Friends added on X1 not showing up on site or 360?

I've added a few friends on the X1 (added, not just "followed"). When I get on my 360 or the Xbox web site the new friends don't show up. The only place I can view them is actually on the X1. I don't recall hearing anything about that, so I assumed adding
someone to your friends list would be account wide. Are X1 friends confined to just the X1 console?

 

Playing someone else's games

If your X1 is assigned as your "home" console, then anyone that signs into your console will have Live while signed in.

If you go to someone's house that has a X1 but not a gold account and you sign in with your gold account, then they will have gold until you sign out.

So, your "home" console will also have gold from your account, but your gold membership will also follow you on other X1 consoles. That is my understanding of how Xbox Live gold accounts work on X1 now.

 

User 1 can download their content and use gold on any console they want as long as they are signed into Live. So they can leave the first console as their Home console so Users 2 and 3 can still use their content.

Do you have to assign the second console as home to someone (in our case user 2 or 3)?

When we turn it on the first time won't it ask who's machine it is?

And if User 1 is signed on and playing on the new console would it log people out playing on the old?

 

It might ask if you want to set that console as your Home, but you don't have to set the console to any of the user's Home if you don't want to.

Since the first console is set as User 1's Home, the other accounts can sign in and use the content without User 1 being logged in at all. So it won't affect them if User 1 is playing on the other console.
