adding a outlook.com alias

Hi all

I'm trying to add an outlook.com account as an alias to my xbox live account. Its letting me know that it's already taken (which I thought was the point?). I think that the outlook.com account has an xbox live ID also, but can't find how to delete that as
I don't use it. I'm needing to change the email address that is currently active as it is my workplace email, but i'm looking at changing jobs so will not have access to that email. I cant find a way to contact the help desk directly, so please help.

Change email of Xbox account with another mail

Hi guys!

I have a xbox account with a certain email that i will call "A". I want to change this email adress with another one called "B". "A" is @hotmail.it and "B" is @outlook.com.

I've already read some posts that talks about adding an alias but i can't do that because it gives me an errore that says "E-mail address is already in use. Try with another one.". I guess I should use a not-microsoft account to create an alias... is that
right?

So, how can i substitute "A" with "B" without adding an alias and without losing all my data and achievements of my xbox account?

Sorry for any mistakes in english, of course i'm not a native speaker.

Moving Xbox Live Gamertag and Profile Between Aliases on Xbox 360

Hello, I wonder whether it's possible to move XBOX Live gamertag and profile from an alias to another one linked to the same Microsoft account.

I'm using a Hotmail.com alias, which is my primary one, to sign-in to Microsoft services. I also have an Outlook.com as another alias associated to the same Microsoft account. I'd like to make the latter as my primary alias and move the XBOX Live gamertag
and profile to it.

Do you think it's possible? Am I going to lose anything in the move?

And if possible, should I move them before changing the Outlook.com alias to primary or after the change?

For Microsoft related emails like Hotmail, outlook, once they are in any way attempt to be logged in with the XBOX console or server or be attach to another xbox account, it will have the system directly note that it has an existing gamertag linked to it.
You may need to create a new one or the one from a third party like gmail or yahoo. You can also contact chat support to verify if you can pull up an account by searching using the outlook email you have

Actually, even if there's no Xbox live account associated yet on that account, the system will not allow you to add it as an alias. All Microsoft related emails are reserved domain so you may need to use a 3rd party email. But if what you're trying is to
transfer your gamertag to a new email. Then doing it over an xbox 360 console will allow you to use a Microsoft email as long as it does not have any gamertags yet.

You're thinking of alias as a way to link your different Microsoft accounts together...it's not that. Creating a new alias means you're signing up for a new (not taken) email address, but the email to/from this new address will use existing inbox.

If you want to add your 2nd Microsoft account's email address as alias to this one, first you'll have to remove that email address from that account (i.e. sign up for an alias on that account, make the new alias primary, delete the email address you want
to move, wait for 30 days for that email address to be available to the world, then add it to your current Microsoft account as new alias).

Emiliano, can you try adding a new alias to your Microsoft account?

Go to Add an alias (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=864833). Sign in to your Microsoft account, if prompted.

Under Add an alias, select: Create a new Outlook.com email address and add it as an alias.

Select Add alias.

Once the new alias has been added, go to https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=842796 and select the new alias as a way to sign-in

Then, try to download your profile on the Xbox 360 by using this new alias instead.
You may find helpful to try to use first the recently created app password instead of your regular password.

Hello BeguilingRex019, usually in cases like these, after creating Alias you do not need to delete it, just swipe to secondary and choose the new account as primary login.

In the image below, if you click the Sign-in preferences option, you can choose the email you are signed in to.
