    Added External Drive, can I transfer captures that are on Internal, if so how?


    Hello, I just hooked up a 4T external HD to my Xbox One X. Once it was ready I launched, it told me I needed to DL a media viewer from THE store, so I did, and since I wasn't asked where to install, it put it on my external (I think), I found out that it
    did install to my console apps. When I launch it says, "No devices found." & under that, "To get the most out of this app, connecta USB device or set up a DLNA media server on your network." I've been to Broadcast & capture/Advanced settings/Capture location
    a few times & attempted to change it from internal to external, but all I have is Internal. The setting for storage is the same, only shows internal. Not showing in Devices & accessories either.

    So #1- can my captures/clips be transferred from the console storage to the External?

    #2- where can I find how to do that?

    Now I am off to see the wizard about it not recognizing my HD.

    AFAIK, game dvr saves are stored in the reserved part of the internal HDD. That internal storage space is limited so to allow extended clips the option to use an external HDD was added however it can only be used with an NTFS formatted HDD. An NTFS formatted
    HDD cannot however be used to save games and apps which need an Xbox format so you will need to chose between the two usage cases or add a second external HDD if you wish to have both external games/apps storage and game dvr clips.

    It appears you have 2 problems and have only received help with the smaller problem. So let me be the first to deal with the larger of the 2 because you can't tranfer anything to a hard drive your Xbox doesn't recognize. There are many reasons why it might

    there is an app called file viewer on xbox you can transfer your data there hope this helps :)
