  1. add child to xbox without email

Is there any way to add a child to our family Xbox device/account w/o creating an email account for the child? I don't want a child of this particular age to have his/her own email account.

    :)

  2. The directions to add a family member are not good.

I want to add a child to the account from scratch without an email address for them.

    Adding a child profile

I've read the article on how to add profiles to your "family" but I was wondering if there was a different way to add a child profile. My main concern is that you have to create a microsoft account and have an email to setup a profile. This seems a little
too much for me to add an account for a child of 5 years old. Is there another way to add a profile without having to do this or a way to use my account to setup another profile?

No Sorry, each new gamertag requires an email account. Although you can still make an account, but just not let your child access the email and ensure child protection safety features are on...

  6. Once signed in - you don't use email for anything. So you do that stuff.

And there are plenty settings what each account is allowed to do, like communicating, shopping and sharing etc.

I created a second account and gamertag, but don't even remember to what email address now.

That's how it will be for your child as well.

Well, in order to add or manage a kid in the Xbox Family settings, the kid HAS TO have a Microsoft Account. Usually the Microsoft Account is an existing email, so there is no way around creating one.

However, the Live service has a lot of settings to protect kids. So you can set the privacy and online security settings of that kids account to your liking. Just make sure that you put the birthdate of the kid correctly when creating the account.

Ideally, you create a Microsoft Account within the Microsoft services like "outlook.com" instead of creating a standard email at other email providers (so don't use Gmail or Yahoo or other email services).

Depending on what operating system you use on your PC, your kid can for example sign in with that Microsoft Account on your Windows 10 PC, and can also be put under parental controls on the PC, so the kid can't go online or can only use the PC for certain
times or can only visit certain websites. So you can prevent the kid from actually using the email address as an email.

Maybe you can use a guest account. http://support.xbox.com/en-US/my-account/security/use-guest-account
