add another xbox live player in same house

we have 2 xbox one machines and one is set up fine for xbox live and we can't set up the other machine for xbox live, please help... it you can't help please give me a phone number for microsoft xbox live support, thanks.

new to xbox 360 LIVE - 2 players vs 2 players?

is it possible to have to 2 players playing LIVE in one house and 2 other players in another house, playing the same game? OR is it only one player from each house play each other?

Depending on how the electrical wiring is set up in the apartment complex, you might use home plugs like

Devolo dLAN Powerline adapters (there are other companies that make similar adapters).
That way, you can plug one powerline adapter into an electrical wall outlet, and connect a network cable to the router and the adapter. This will "inject" network signals into the house's power lines.

Then in the other room, your roommate can then plug in another powerline adapter, and connect a network cable from the adapter to his console. And he should have the same connection as if you were running a 100 foot network cable through your homes.

But before you go out and buy that stuff, it might be worth a try if you have a person in the complex working for that apartment complex's IT, and ask them to help you set up your consoles with only a connection to the ethernet wall ports. Your
mileage may vary, but when I went to the campus IT back then when I was a student, I brought a bag of pastries to their lunchbreak and casually talked about the issue getting my Dreamcast running on the campus network.

A few hours later, my issue was resolved, and my Dreamcast had a connection to the Internet.

I mean, a University IT department is something else than the ISP providing internet for an apartment complex, and you might not even have a local technician there.

But if you need to find more information about the console's IPs and stuff, you might do this:

In the console's network settings, you should see the IP address from each of your both consoles.

Then you both use the console's Microsoft Edge internet browser app, and go to What Is My IP? Shows your real IP - IPv4 - IPv6 - WhatIsMyIP.com®

Check if the IP address differs from what is shown on your console, and most importantly, if the IP shown on that website is different for the both of you.

Are you trying to set up the second console as your Home console? Or just adding the same profile from the first console to the second console? Also, is there any error message or code when setting it up for Xbox Live?

Are you trying to use the same e-mail address for the 2nd gamer tag? AFAIK, you can only have one gamer tag per e-mail address.

 

@ace386 you should be able to set up the Xbox Live account on the second console even though it is the same account that you've used on the first console. But yes, you cannot have two Gamertag using the same email address. You will need to create a different
email address or Microsoft account for the second Xbox Live account.
