    For some reason, my xbox account is set as a child account. Ive tried to add a parent to change the settings, but everytime it says “There was a problem, please try adding that person again”. This happens no matter what account i try to add, or on any
    xbox i try to do it on. I have an Xbox One S incase that helps.

    Your parent's Microsoft account isn't valid.

    If you are a minor you cant set up the parents account. Please have your parents try the steps at the link below to re-add their account as your parental one.

    If that doesn't work then they will need to contact phone support for more assistance in trying to re-add your account. 1-800-469-9269 for USA and Canada.

    Try to access the parental settings from Xbox.com, either remove the current parental controls, or add new ones, whatever is needed.

    Sometimes things just dont work right the first time using your console.

    Looks like you found out what happens when you try to tamper with the parental controls. Sorry to hear it.

    Please have your parents try the steps at the link below to re-add their account as your parental one.

    Changed email now I cannot sign in to xbox live

    fixed it by adding my parents account and then pressing add to the family on my account which prompted the correct email, don't know how that worked

    What exactly doesn't work?

    If you go to http://account.xbox.com/settings and see a page explaining how to add a child account to a parent account, you will need the
    help of your parents with an adult Microsoft account.

    If not already done so, your parent has to go to
    https://account.microsoft.com/family and add your account to their family.

    Then your parent has to go to http://account.xbox.com/settings, sign in with their parent
    account and make the necessary changes on your child account.

    After your parents have set permissions on your account, you need to sign out and back in on the device or app you're trying to use.
